Pardon me while I wipe the drool off of my keyboard... and I thought that mine was clean til I see that one with about a third of the miles as mine. Whoever gets that one will get a great truck, just check the KDP!

Nice looking machine, but one problem I see. K&N air filter:{

Did they ever redesign them so they would not let the dirt around them?

Pumps are the same if they are the 12 valve with a manual transmission. The part I love is the comment on the "Rare Manual Transmission. " Yeah ok, Not!

And I agree with tgordon on the K&N.

With the low mileage im sure it is not a problem. Although I would never use one, im sure they are not the end of the world. If only I had the money... ... ... :{

I thought the 98 had a 913 pump or something like that??? Guess I read wrong. . I know nothing about these 12 valves YET... . Thanks I Bid a little over 16000 and the reserve is not yet met so I'm done bidding...

correct, the eariler 215 manuals had the 887 but they will be just as responsive to mods as the 913.

Not fer nuttin, but if you want a truck as clean as that one you're prolly gonna pay a good bit more that $16k. I've got well over twice that into my 12 valve, and it looks only half as nice. Of course, my priorities for what got done might not have been emphasizing looks. That's one really nice truck. Someone's gonna get a sweet ride.

Rare 5 speed, well, I guess if you consider how often they lose fifth gear that could be true.

That's so true it really is funny!

Mine had a K&N on it when I bought it. I never knew the K&N was a "bad" filter until I joined TDR. I serviced it and sealed the edges with grease, so I don't think it let anything past the edges. Nothing to lose sleep over. But I do have a much better setup now.

Nice truck and it's nice to know how well these '96 12v/manual transmission trucks are holding their value.

That is super clean! Amazing! I'm looking at one now that is on par with that. Clean old 12 valves are damn hard to find. Out of their minds on the price. Even in that condition. Thats not Barett Jackson! Thats Flea-Bay for you!

Only problem with that one is that cheap running board/ground effect kit. You have to drill into the sheet metal to install that crap. That is a bunch of holes. Knowing how bad these things can rust... I would be worried about that eventually. Still a nice truck though.

any one who keeps their truck this nice probably keeps up on the air filter maintenance as well.

very nice truck

I belive the issue with the K&N was to do with the edges of the filter allowing debris around the filter, nothing to do with the filtering media itself.

That's why you're supposed to use a bead of grease around the edge to seal it. My turbo looks fine and I used the KN for 10 years.

Mine had that same type of fiberglass running boards on it when I bought it, and just to clarify the above statement, the running boards are attached with screws to the underside edge of the fenders and body panels - there shouldn't be any holes in the outer sheetmetal that you'd be able to see if all that was taken off. I could be wrong, but that's how mine was attached.

BTW, those running boards aren't "cheap" either... ;)

I have seen lots of trucks down here with those "cheap" (tacky) running boards. Everyone I have seen has had sheet metal screws drilled through the pinch welds, into the fenders, etc... Nice that you have not had to deal with that! It is still a problem either way and worth looking into. They can also collect dirt where they meet the fender or any part of the body. This creates a moisture problem and the result is rust. I Have seen it so many times that I cannot remember. If you are in an area where rust is not a problem... Good for you. If not... It is a serious problem.

By "cheap" I mean that it looks ridiculous. This is an opinion. Don't take it personally. I'm sure they are expensive. IMO a nice set of Nerf bars would look much better.
