Ok, background:

July 2004: Buy 03 3500 Dually from private party but not before calling dealer to make sure warranty was transferrable.

July 2004: Go in to Haddad Dodge to get warranty transferred. They tell me I can't transfer warranty because the truck is not in my name yet.

January 2005: My bank FINALLY gets the paperwork right so that the truck is in my name after not sending in paperwork to DMV, DMV losing said paperwork, and then me finally getting my registration.

January 2005: Go in to Haddad again. They take a copy of the registration and do some work on there computer for 20 minutes and then give me a piece of paper saying I need to have the previous owner sign it. She said that all I had to do was have that signed and then mail it back to them with a check for the warranty transfer fee (she even gave me a stamped envelope addressed back to them).

March 2005: I finally get a hold of the previous owner and get him to sign the paper.

Today: Take in the signed paper, figured things would go faster in person, WRONG! Origional woman is not there so I give it to another. She asks me for a copy of the release of liability showing I did indeed buy the truck from the guy signing the paper. I said my bank handled all the DMV paperwork and I did not get a copy, I can show them a copy of loan paperwork? She says no, has to be a copy of the release of liability. Then she says I need to have a copy of ALL THE SERVICE RECORDS OF ANYTHING DONE TO THE TRUCK since it was bought new  . So I say, you want me to go back to the previous owner who sold the truck almost 9 months ago and ask him for a copy of all the service records? And she gave me a blank stare. I proceeded to explain to her what the previous woman said and she said that she had no idea what she was talking about and that I do need all this other crap.

So, here I sit. The previous owner is working tonight (paramedic and can't have his phone on) so I have to wait to hear him laughing his *** off on the phone when I ask him for the records till tomorrow. And getting a copy of the release of liability should be a grand adventure at the CA DMV (se habla engles?).

Anyway, anyone else ever go through this? Is this lady on crack or is she right? I'm getting tired of this hassle and everyday I am getting closer to 100k and I have a leaky injector pump and leaky rear main seal to get taken care of!

Oh yeah, also searched and read all the bad news about Haddad, I guess I'll try starting over at another dealership a 1/2 hour away... But would still like to hear from anyone who has gone through this and what steps they had to take? I think requesting a copy of the service history is rediculous, why don't they have a service history? THE TRUCK WAS BOUGHT THERE!!!

I bought a '99 with 23,000 miles on it from a friend. Made a deal with another friend to sell it to as soon as my '03 came in. In the mean time the injection pump went out at 96,000 miles on the '99. I took it to the dealer I had the '03 ordered from and they fixed it no questions asked.

My '03 came in Feb of '03, ordered Nov of '02.

The '99 was fixed at a dealer other than the dealer it was originally purchased from, but this was also a Cummins backed warranty claim ... ... ... . maybe different than a DC backed warranty claim?

Rear main and injection pump are covered under FACTORY(not extended)warranty for 7 years or 100k. Its ALL backed by D. c. Cummins sells the engines to D. C. with NO warranty through them(Cummins)NOW your EXTENDED service contract is a DIFFERANT story. Who is the UNDERWRITER for it? D. C. (who have their own)or through another source? I also don't know if the FACTORY warranty goes with the vehicle or does it have a transfer??

So does anyone know if the Cummins 7/100 warranty goes with the vehicle? As in no transfer to do just take it to the dealer and they look at mileage and go to work? I woke up to a 5" diameter puddle of diesel under the CP3 today :{ But Haddad is still screwing me around on getting the warranty transfered.

Was that at the dealer the origional owner bought it from or another dealer? I am using a different dealer than the truck was bought from and wasn't sure if that would be a problem or not.

It was at a different dealer from where I purchsed the truck. The dealer I got the truck from (carl burger dodge) Told me the reflash wouldnt do anything, Come to find out the service writer had not even read the TSB, So I took it to wes hinkle dodge in poway they did the reflash in 1. 5 hrs why I waited for my truck. I was getting 14mpg before the reflash now I am getting 17. 5 hand calculated city/highway. Funny thing is the overhead computer is spot on now.

I think the ENGINE waranty is with the truck, not the owner. Call 1-800-992-1997 Dodge no help line and ASK! Or take it to a dealer, they can pull up warranty coverage etc. right then and there. Or call a knowledgeable service manager. He's SUPPOSE to know and handle such issues.
