I thought there was a #5 TST plate in my son's truck when I bought it from him. I added a 4" turbo back exhaust kit and an AFE Stage 1 air induction system. I could not get the truck to smoke as much as I would have liked and I thought it ran pretty good. I was getting 27 lbs of boost and could barely get the EGTs to 1100 pulling a 6000# boat.
Well, I called Piers. He recommended I put in a #10 Plate and a 3KGSK. I did. When I pulled the AFC housing, I found a TST #12 plate. Don't know how that got there. BUT, I can vouch for the fact that the #10 and the 3KGSK work VERY well. This truck is honking now. 32# of boost (in a hurry) and as much smoke as I want with the plate only half way forward. If it had run like this when my son had the truck, he probably would have kept it and not bought his 1998 2500 4X4 CTD. This is a fun combination. I don't know how you guys with the really bombed trucks can stand it. All that power and so many Strokes an Duramaxes to embarrass.
This is a great forum and THE Dodge Cummins place to be.
