What are the symptoms you have when the clutch goes bad?

I know this isn't really a symptom but more a simple test.



According to the service manual, if it will spin more than 5 rotations, the fan clutch is bad. It has to be tested cold and you have to spin it a few times to get the fluid distributed.



I tested mine this way and I could get it to spin 5. 5-6 rotations. I bought a new one and installed it and I can't get it to spin 1 rotation! I noticed after I changed it that I could hear the clutch engage. The only time I could hear the clutch before was right off of a stop and only for a second. I kept wondering why people talked about them being so loud.
