Ha all, will uneven governor springs create a lope like a hard cam? I am still chasing this thing down. I've checked valves, timing, fuel pressure, and am going to replace all fuel line this weekend with marine hose. I am going to have Carolina Cummins check compression as soon as I / he can. Please, any suggestions are welcome. :{

Mine does it, too. It's worse after I've run her pretty hard like towing a pretty good load @70 mph for an hour or so. It'll even do it for a while the next day but it clears up until I run it hard again. I have a pretty good fuel knock, too. I've replaced the lift pump, injectors, filter, fuel lines, and adjusted the valves. The guy at the pump shop says my rack in the pump is sticking just enough to cause my problem. I have a different pump I'm going to have tuned and swap it. I'm also going with a 3K GSK and advancing the timing when I do the swap. We'll see if that does anything.

Yes on the 3kgsks, but it did this before that. Could they have been out from the factory ?

If they were out from the factory and you reset the GSK to that spec, your definatly gonna have the same issue.

When you did your GSK did you use the measuring method or the click method?

Josh

After my 3kgsk install my idle moves around just enough to be noticeable where it used to be rock solid. Does this mean mine's slightly off too? What is the click method? Seems I remember reading two 'solid' clicks after the first 'soft' click.

Thanks,

John and MarsHill... . The click method is just what you mentioned.

I personally have had better luck going by that than the measuring. Everytime I try to measure I seem to have something in the way of the calipers.

Thanks Josh, I'll attempt the click method this week end and hope it sorts out my lope. Man I hope its just the gov. springs

I need to change out mine from a 3k to a 4k, but... .

With my 3k, when it's cold (mn cold, not NC cold) it will lope a bit till it warms up. Delievery valves helped, but did not solve it. When I do the 4k kit, I'm hoping it's gone.

I've gone almost mad trying to solve a miss on my '96 for 1-1/2 years. Head job, new P pumps, lift pumps, timing, timing, injectors, timing, injectors. . . it seems some miss issues on a 12v are impossible to solve.
