People are funny these days. They are so book smart and street smarts go out the window. One of those guys could be a mechanical engineer, for instance, who makes $200,000 a year with his smarts, but doesn't think about falling through ice.

Easy there Tbone.

Plenty of your fellow members are snowmobilers, including me. Just like anything else, there are the few imbeciles that make us all look stupid. These guys were assured by race organizers that the ice was safe, so they parked there. My friend raced at that race. Luckily he didn't park on the ice. Bummer deal for those racers, although I do agree with Nick; common sense would have helped them out a bit in this situation.

As I recall the promoters drilled ONE hole to test the ice thickness. The circuit I used to race in drilled several in the parking area.



I saw a 20ish girl walking to the driver's meeting with her boyfriend step into a hole and get wet up to her chin. It was pretty funny, she was laughing about it too. It was a warm weekend.
