I aplogize in advance because I know this topic has been covered but I can't find it. Anyway, where do I get switches to fit those dummy switches in between the heated seat switches. I think I remember reading that napa has them...

I would like to know too.

I looked around a while ago for them no luck, went to the dealer and parts guy he looked at me like I had 3 heads. said I was missing an opt.

I have 2 of the dummy switches between the seat heaters also and the only options I'm missing is the gps stero and side airbags. anybody know what they were for??

When I bought my 2003, I asked the dealer. He said they are just dummies nothing ever goes there. Not! I dont believe that for a minute. It cost Dodge a lot of money to make/design the cutouts and then have dummy switches moulded. We know how Dodge is cutting out so much to save bucks, they would not have done this. Yet, no one seems to know what they are for.

They are just dummies. Look in your owners manual and they show them there as not used. I asked the same question when I bought the truck. The dealer figured they were there for some future options. Personally I think Dodge could have done alot better in the layout department.

I've looked for those switches also without any luck. However, I wouldn't be surprised if DC uses those types of switches to activate the electric front and rear locking diffs that will come with the 2005 Power Wagon.

i agree, but they may have not thought that far... probably just for "future options", so they wouldn't have to remold.

Do you guys have the manual shift (4x4) or Electric? Just put deposit on a 3500 and didn't have any dummy switches. Trying to remeber what was there and think it was 4x4 switches.

Darren.

I used one to operate a power rear sliding window. I got a Dodge factory heated seat switch (~$30), took the image off with "Goof Off", and installed it in my dash. Check it - #ad

more pictures in my gallery.

Mark,

Can you give me some details about your rear power slider... price, where you bought it, and did u install it and if so how hard was it to install???

Ted

Could you give me some information on the wiring of that switch. Does it require a special relay if you want it for something other than a momentary switch?

Non 2500, 3500 options.

Could these "dummy switches" be used for accessories, or options that are NOT offered on a 1500, or by mopar??? Just wondering.

the factory heated seat switch is a bi-directional latch switch (hi or low). I used the relay that came with the power slider and simply replaced their switch with the Dodge switch.

The new power wagon should have auto stabilizer disconnect, and the switch can be used for activating that.

I bet they will used to operate the sunroof available in the new '05's.

sag2 is correct, the one switch to the right of the driver's seat heater switch is for the electronic stabilizer bar on the new '05 Power Wagon. It's shown in the new Motor Trend mag. The electronic front/rear diff locks are worked off of the same knob that controlls the electronic 4X4 in the Laramie. The remaining blank switch is a mystery, but is probably being reserved for the power slider (when it becomes availabele). The power sunroof will usually have the controls on the headliner.

Well, this thread has been idle for a while now. Has anybody else used a modified seat heater switch for their nefarious purposes? I'm looking at switching an air compressor on/off (via relays), for starters. :)
