I don't know about you guys, but I ordered my truck on January 17th. It was built two weeks later and sat in storage for over a month when DC finally decides to release it.

Two issues:

#1 I'm tired of waiting for a special ordered truck while it sits in storage. My friend's dad ordered a Ford three weeks after mine and he got his truck last week. The last thing that should happen is a special ordered truck going to the end of the line. That said, I've been more than patient with all the delays, but I made it REAL clear when I ordered that I wanted my truck by April and as it stands right now, April 5th is the earliest I will be able to go down and pick up my truck.

#2 I just heard all G-56 trucks are barred from delivery until further notice. If this is true I'm going to have a hard time not canceling my order. I didn't want the Ford but it's looking real good right now. It doesn't have a Cummins but I sure as hell haven't heard about these issues from owners of ZF transmissioned trucks.

I'm going to be calling Tommeygun tomorrow before I go to work. If I can't have my truck soon, I have no reason not to cancel it. I have a trip planned in April and as it stands right now I have nothing to pull my trailer. If I'm going to miss my trip anyway, I might as well just get some other truck (not a Dodge).

I'm really frustrated right now and I hope further clarification finds this G-56 rumor not to be true. Further, I'm getting more and more nervous about owning a truck with a questionable transmission. I really wanted an NV5600 truck but I waited too long.

How many of the rest of you are in the same boat as I am? What are your plans?

I would be driving a Dodge by now if they still had the NV5600. I am waiting to see how these new manual trannys pan out, but really this will take a couple of years so I am considering just getting an auto transmission in 06 If I need to I can always go for a aftermkt up grade with the auto after warranty is up.

I'm not interested in an auto. I will not own an automatic transmission, I dispise them.

I am just so extremely ****** and confused right now. :--)

In conversation yestarday with my dealer (see the big thread on the G56's being delayed) they informed me that there is no way I would see my truck 4/8 as planned. They didn't know why but said it would be delayed again. It would be nice to at least know what the h*@# is going on. :(

I ordered on 1/3 and was promised a truck by the beginning of March. I too have no truck and have already cancelled more than one trip because of it.

I have my dealer searching for a 6-speed on a lot somewhere (hopefully an NVG, no way an auto) and have already found a few that are close to my specs. If I can match my deal on the order, or at least get close, I will be cancelling

The last two Fords I have ordered did come in quicker that this Dodge but Ford has it's own issues too..... nobody is perfect

in all defense of the G56, I have had mine for about 700 miles and it has worked flawlessley. the clutch is lighter than my 98 tacoma and shifts almost as smooth to.

Hercules130: I'm glad your G56 is working out well for you. I would still rather have the truck I ordered, with the G56, but I can't justify waiting endlessly with no information and no delivery in sight.

If I have to make the choice between the NVG and the G56 again (like I did when I ordered) then this lack of information as to why the 6-speeds are being held up will send me to the NVG. I can (and do) defend the new transmission but these delays are getting ridiculous.

I just called Tommeygun but he wasn't at his desk yet. I'm pretty sure I'm canceling my order.

I'm just so ****** off. I can't believe after all of this, all this crap with my truck sitting in storage and nobody wanting to tell me why it's shipped, they ship it and then it's halted prior to delivery.

I found a used truck already that's looking real good. I just wish I'd founded it yesterday morning instead of night so I could go look at it. It appears to be an 03, so no cat, and NV 5600, and it has less than 15,000 miles. If I can get a good deal, I think I'll just go that route.

Well I ordered my truck on 3/19/05. I haven't been waiting as long as some but it still seems like a real long time to me, especially with my dealer making interest off my 1000 dp. I really don't know what to think or do. Here is a email reply I received from my dealer:

I wish you would get your information regarding your truck from me. We double checked on your truck today and it is still scheduled to leave the factory later this week. (Delivery to XXXXXXXXXXX Dodge is 2-3 weeks). Trust me I will let you know as soon as I see it. There are NO restrictions on your truck at this time. The restrictions on orders placed now are on materials but do not affect your truck in anyway. (dealership name edited )

So I don't know whether I have a misinformed dealer or what. But when I see guys that were supposed to take delivery and their trucks are sitting somewhere I get nervous. There obviously is some kind of issue and it kind of makes me wonder whether I should just cancel the order and hold off. I hate to get a new transmission and have all kinds of issues with it, cause to be honest after blowing my wad on the truck I cant afford to have to buy a new transmission or whatever to make things right.

Sorry about the length of this, I am just really concerned and bummed about the whole issue. :(

If anyone REALLY wanted a NV5600, The dealers up here probably have ~50 between the two of them. Billion Dodge Bozeman, Mt or Yellowstone Dodge Livingston, Mt. I got mine at a fair price just not a steal like some high volume dealers. Wanted to keep it local. Just a thought.

I know your pain all too well. Check out my sig to get an idea how long it will take. Flipping forever for someone who plunks down cash to order their own truck. All I can tell you is that it's worth the wait. Good luck with that Ferd.

I'd buy an 05 with the nv5600 if you can find them. I can call the sales manager where I bought my truck and see if they have anything.

I've had three CTDs that I did a lot of shopping around for. Three times JC Billion lied to me and wouldn't even come close to the prices I got from Yellowstone Country Motors (YCM) in Livingston. Actually, the two other times I checked at JC Billion was just so I could see how ridiculous they were. Plus, this is why I won't miss an opportunity to flame JC and praise YCM.

On the other hand YCM was within $100 dollars of Dave Smith and that was after Dave Smith sold a truck out from under me and reneg on a price (later they called back to reneg on the reneg  ). Plus, I knew up front what YCM was going to give for the trade-in versus driving 700 miles and getting jacked around on the trade-in value. Bottom line bought locally for a very good price, ordered the exact truck I wanted, helped the local economy, and built better working relations with the local dealer I would have to do business with.

IMHO you can't go wrong with the tried and true NV5600. Plus the incentives. ;)

SORTA reminds me of the proud Ford owner in a ford group thread where lots of complaints were surfacing - and he popped up to brag that HIS new Ford had made it all the way home from the dealership with no problems...

Very sad - but also VERY true, no lie!

I bought from Billion on mine and I just had them match the price of Yellowstone on the same equipped truck. It all went well for me. I just feel better about warranty/service if I can keep things local. Either way purchasing a new NV is still an option at this time in this country. I was down there 3 days ago and they had a few Larmamies on the lot. Good luck.

Have you guy's seen the post by Peter at Southbend Clutch?

He ordered a new Dual-Mass flywheel that is going in front of the new G-56 and had pictures of it. I believe it is made by Luk, who also makes the DM flywheels for the Duramax and Powerstrokes. My understanding is that the Ford & Chev. DM flywheels have been less than reliable.

The interesting thing Peter had to say was that this new DM flywheel looked more robust than the Ford & Chev. designs. At the time he had not disassembled it, yet, to see what the insides actually looked like.

You might want to look for his post to see if there are any updates. It might make you feel better about your new purchase. I hope so!

I just got off the phone with Chrysler. They tried telling me that my truck is on the delivery truck and is not on hold. I can't get a hold of Tom yet, to ask him though... .

Tim,

I was able to track my truck from the factory, all the way to Ohio, where it seemed to go in circles while still on the train. The regional representative said he could speed it up, once it came off the train (?). Anyhow, I showed it sitting the whole time. While I was on the phone *****ing to the salesman, he saw the transport pull in with my ride on it. The records still showed it sitting in the Ottawa, Ohio train yard. The moral being that you'll never know when it's coming. It has to be the worst form of torture for a man to endure.

DC slow delivery time...

FWIW: I know I belong in the 12 valve forum, but I feel for you. Expecting a new truck to come in is terrible. When I ordered my truck new in '94 (I wanted the "new" club cab) it was Aug. When the new brochures and price sheets came out I placed my order. I got my truck at the end of Feb... . Yes... . 7 1/2 months later!!!!! :--) I would not have waited so long, but it was my first new truck and EXACTLY what I wanted and I still to this day could not be happier w/ my truck. :) Hang in there! Jeff
