where did you get the replacement piece?

Ive been looking all over for some flex pipe or anything to go in it's place with no luck

and yes I know there are more gains when droping the muffler, but I hate the smell of the exhaust

I agree! That smell just doesn't seem right! I've got a 06 Jetta that smells the same - just nasty!

I got the whole dual exhaust from MBRP including the cat replacement pipe (which was an option). Don't see why they won't sell ya just the replacement pipe... . just not sure if it will be a direct replacement with stock intermediate pipe.

Can you cut it out; drill it out; then put it back? What size band clamps are needed? 3, 3. 5, or 4? I may git-r-done tonight if I have the right clamps...

that can be done 4 inch band clamps and your done. I would rather have it intact just in case. The thought of a cat on a diesel that also has no sensors up or downstream of said cat, is just a waste. The cat on my yoda I can understand, but a Diesel, come on CARB #ad

So, you are saying the exhaust smell will be bad if you drop just the muffler and not the cat? I wouuld think the smell would be worse if the cat were gone and the muffler was in place?

With the cat in place the exhaust smells like something other than a "normal" diesel smell. Without the cat the exhaust has the less offensive (to some including myself) smell of a "conventional" diesel engine...

Mark Craig from DPP sells the MRBP CAT delete pipe for a very good price and he is a great fellow to deal with - I have bought 95% of my BOMBs from him. Also get two 4 inch SS band clamps from your loacl NAPA and you can do the job in 15 minutes.
