I found a shop locally that uses ATS exclusively. They say ATS is as bulletproof as you can get. I know the prices for ATS stuff is higher than most, but is it really worth it? I'm tempted to go this route, stage 4 or 5. Just want to do it right first time, with a total swap. I do like the 3 year warrantee...

last I heard, there was a waiting list for the trannies because they didnt have any cores, but that might have changed. I am also looking at ATS trannies, so let us know what you find out

i personally would go with some other company like dtt or suncoast to name a few. PM me if you would like to know why as i dont like to get into the bashing on these forums

Sounds to me that he may have had personal experience with the product in question and won't go into detail publicly. I don't see a problem with that, do you?

yah and i was an ATS owner so i probably have some input on it i said i didnt want to bash anyone online

I wonder about anyone not willing to say publicly about their problem with a manufacturer. a bashing is not stating the problem.

there is nothing wrong with me not wanting to state publicly what my problems were/are. If you would like to know send me a PM and ill be more than happy to talk about it with you. I see no reason for you to "wonder" about me just because i wont get into this publicly

What is this

You 'wonder' about someone that is respectful enough to share their experiences with a manufacturer in a private, respectful way, instead of flying off the handle and taring them a new one. What is this? Russia(ville)? :-laf

I agree. Some people just don't like to hear that their favorate transmission, or turbo, or whatever is having negative press, so a war starts, similar to what was happening here. Atleast he is willing to tell his story and not try and take anything away from ATS.

yes I wonder because if you wanted to talk the topic you have choices. post on the topic , pm the person yourself (nice choice if you dont want to talk about the topic in the open). now Russiaville , home to 40 or more percent of the people that build the 48re and most of the dc autos. ;) stop in anytime your north of Indy 50 miles or so

I have had my ATS for 180,000 miles and it just went last night, not quite Bullet Proof but almost. I pull heavy almost every day up to 30,000 pounds.

I twisted the (Hardened) Input shaft at the torque converter and a piece of the shaft is now stuck in the converter. There is no debris what so ever in the pan, now that says a whole lot for ATS and thier Transmissions.

The trans was running at 140 degrees at the time of failure.

The trans in my opinion is great improvement over stock & preformed perfect for me.

I however may need a new trans and am searching the options of which one to go with sense so many other Vendors have entered the game with new rules of engaugement.

I would like to see who is offering the best for my needs. I do like the durability of the Triple Disk TC and dont want to loose my exhaust braking and 2nd gear lock up.

Thanks TJ

I read a few of those negative comments, but we went with ATS anyway. Heck, they are 30 min from me, not some trained installer. We had a slight problem with wiring, the truck got stuck in OD once, but it was a loose wire. Other than that, it runs like a champ. Level 5 used to slip like crazy and now there is no way it would slip. I think they did a great job, but I had the true pros install it. We didn't go all out with stage 5, but did the TC, VB, Input shaft, and Co-pilot. I'll probably upgrade again if the stock parts cant hold up.

We could all benefit from info on your experience. Please enlighten us. Just the facts, and we can draw our own, more informed conclusions

Thanks
Mike

I wonder where they get them from(input shafts). I am betting most come from the same vendor. I know those that race gassers know the name(coan engineering) ,they buy many parts from TCI only to grind off the name/numbers and use.

I dont know where the shafts come from but I watched them assemble and weld up my tc while I was at the shop in Denver Colorado. I also watched them build & bench test my trans be for re-installing in the truck.
