For those with teen drivers in their house you may want to consider this driver training course. Takes half a day and was great for several reasons. It is a hands on class where the teens drive cars through various courses learning such things as skid control, antilock braking, dropping a tire off the road, etc. It is also someone else besides the parents teaching proper driving so they may listen a bit better.

Brakes supply the cars and it is free, but they do require a $99 deposit to make sure you show up. You can get the deposit back, though most people donate the deposit to the organization. At Parents get a short class, a tour of the action and can do some antilock braking runs as well. Very well done and I highly recommend it.

The only bummer is Mopar used to sponsor it, but as happens, personnel change at Mopar and the new person decided Mopar should spend their money elsewhere.

I remember when this happened. The Herbert family are a fine bunch of racing folks, and when Doug lost his two boys, it was so sad.
I should send my own kids when it comes to my area.

We have a hi-perf driving school near me. They teach our State Troopers, chauffeurs, bodyguards, and also offer classes for those who wish to hone their daily driving and track skills safely. They also offer new driver training. My wife and I have attended their basic class. It gave my wife much more confidence in the GTOs abilities as well as her own. I think having a neutral party with credentials takes the emotion out of the equation. For anyone with children of driving age I can’t imagine better return on $$ spent.

We have a local sports car Club that offers performance driving schools a couple of times a year. My goal is to get my Corvette running well enough for my daughter to run it at those driving schools in a year or 2. I think they let them take the classes before 16 for their junior driving classes but I need to check for sure.
