Problem with a poll is there is no way to know how many RC's compared to QC. If the poll shows that only 4 RC's failed but 50 QC's failed that could be because there are 3000 QC owners reading this site and only 50 RC owners. I guess I don't know how to get the good data? Also to many variables. example say a stock truck that is never run below 1/2 tank does not have a lift pump failure but a modified truck that is run almost empty does? Some things we do know. Last pump modification was 1/1/2002, the shorter the distance the better it is for the pump. Keeping the tank over 1/2 full is easier on the pump. Going from WOT to 0 RPM's can kill a LP. Some things we suspect. The more you bomb the CTD the more fuel you need pumped the harder it is on the LP. I notice that several of the RC owners that posted failures have modified fuel systems, I think all of the different factors can affect the life of the LP. I guess when I asked this question that the distance was the magic bullet. I now think it is just "one" of the contributing factors. :(

That is scary...

I was thinking about this yesterday after you said you would set up a poll and I had the same thoughts. It would be very hard to get "reliable" data. Way too many variables... each truck could be modified in any number of different ways, which may or may not also contribute to the failure. If the data is not reliable, then the perceptions gained from the data are not worth anything.

I could not come up with a way to ensure that the data was quality data. I agree with you, I think it is just a contributing factor because on the QC, the pump has further to pull the fuel, so it stands to reason... I think that is about all we could reasonably draw from the poll.

Your thoughts and efforts are appreciated anyway. :)

Nice setup Eric, but I feel there has to be a simpler solution. I posted some ideas at the end of the pumps lines and what not thread that Csutton started.
