Thought You Might Like To See The New 19.5" Wheels....

These are the 19. 5" wheels I took of a 1990 GM Bread Van!

I machined the centers to 4. 773" to fit dodge hubs & they work perfectly.

I believe this is the exact rim Rickson sells & you can buy them through any rim dealer... Accuride 29015 is the manufacturer & they cost $125ea.

I would have bought Rickson's wheels if they were close but shipping these is expensive & modifying these was a piece of cake.

I love the black police car look... you might think I've lost it!

The best part is I now have 14 ply tires rated for 5000lbs each... . it rides infinitely better I might add! Oo.

Looks great. I'm going to have to give that some serious thought before I need new tires. How did you get the front caps to fit?

The caps snap on to the lug nuts & since the lug nuts are the same... they still fit.

The problem here is if you have simulators on your truck & pop off one of your hubcaps you'll see that they actually sit about 3/8" from your rim to accomodate the Simulator so when you install them on these rims there's a 3/8" gap behind them.

I'm going to take my caps apart & fix them... it will require some cutting & tig welding but you don't actually notice unless you're looking for it.

Nobody's said anything about mine so I assume they didn't notice.

Looks great. The black look looks great on the right color truck such as black and silver. Sorry Tomeygun I don't like it on red. Red demands flash such as chrome and polished aluminum. To each his own.

I like the look of black wheels too. I'm thinking of painting my factory alloys to cover the chips in the clearcoat.

My first choice was to get a set of Alcoa's & have them anodized or powder coated black but I just don't like adapters... . they just make the tires stick out too far.

I think the alloys would look great in black.

Yep, Rickson sells them too.

The only problem with the Simulators for this rim is you can't use the stock hubcap... the simulator is one piece.

Rickson has a prototype Simulator that will allow you to run the stock front caps but you still need to alter the clips so the cap will sit in flush.

Do dually's have some sort of spacer etc for the front wheels? I'm running a 3500 SRW and would be VERY interested in these rims as I just replaced one of my factory chrome wheels and they ain't cheap. What would need to be done to make these fit my truck (other than machining the hub holes)?



Also... just to be clear... the center caps being they fit over the lug nuts... fit without modification?



Also... having pulled up accuride wheels and looked under the part number for these particular wheels... they only have a 2540 lb load rating with a max pressure of 80 PSI. Interesting info, did you use the clamping plate and cone nuts or the lug nuts that came on the truck? I have seen the plates on other vehicles that use that wheel, I bet they are needed to provide support to the hub area. The Rickson also offers a wider wheel with a 1000 lb higher wieght rating, probably a better fit for 245 or 265 tires.

No, You don't want rims like these on a SRW truck... the wheels would be in way too far & it would really look rediculous.

I'm sure a rim could be found & made to work for your application but I've never looked.



As for the Accuride rim only being rated for 2600lbs/80PSI... you really have to see these rims to understand how much heavier they are than a stock rim... they are extremely heavy. It's a very strange rating but that being said, if I bought another set I'd buy the Rickson 6. 5" rims that need no machining & accomodate the wider tire.

On my 6" rims I'm running 245/70 19. 5's & the tire fits well & there's still over 1" clearance between the rear tires under load but I think the 6. 5's would be better for the tire.

Either way, you're not going to get 20K lbs on the back of your truck but I'd feel infinitely safer with an 10,000lb load on my truck & these rims over the stock rims. These rims weigh over double what the stock rims weigh & they are 5/16" steel.

You don't need the locking plates or tapered nuts... these mount just like our stock rims.
