I have been on this outfit for a couple of years. I can remember the day when the 12ers were under the 3 year bumper to bumper. Lots of complaints of warranty etc..... bla bla bla. Then along came them vp trucks, the 12er guys just magically quit complaining about service and having to pay. The spill gates opened on the bombing and the complaining on warranty once those vp trucks hit the road, lift pumps bla bla bla vp who knows what else... Well their warranty is up and the complaining and has pretty much stopped cuz they are outta warranty... Is this ever gonna end, nope the 3g guys cannot break the addiction to the complaining. So my point is please use the search button and see how all the other situations panned out after the last 8 years. .

Bottom line if you want to play you have to accept responsibility for your truck. Just quit the bashing of dealers and DC. If anyone doubts this use the search button on those silly vp, rotary, and inline forums. As for myself I am my own warranty station on any repairs burned up motor and all.

I agree with you 100%. Those that bomb their truck, then it breaks and they try warrenty work are just stealing. BUT let's not forget dealers that void warrenties for trivial reasons. Just because you modify a truck doesn't mean it caused a problem. So there is dishonesty on both sides.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but I wouldn't trust a dealer to work on anything I own. I would rather do it myself. There is just that level of satisfaction and pride knowing that you did all the work yourself, instead of knowing that you wrote the check out to the dealer all nice and neat ;)

Some people wonder why vehicles cost so much nowadays? Lets see, joe farmer has gone thru 2 turbos, one set of injectors, one transmission, etc, etc, etc (all under warranty) and only has 54,000 miles on his "stock" truck. Guess who is paying for all his fun??? You're right! Everyone that buys a new vehicle or pays for a dealer to work on their truck is helping to pay for his fun.

That's why I will never buy a new vehicle from a dealer. Besides, it's more fun to build a vehicle the way you want it rather than buy one the way the factory made it.

Then why don"t ALL manufacturers Offer a 1 year 12,000 mile warranty (Or No warranty)accompanied By a wavier and disclaimer. Why does a owner that wants to mod be enslave and pay for a warranty he does NOT want. DC buys the ISB from Cummins with NO warranty ties, than does not offer it to the the Buyer. On top of all this, locks the maker out of any engine work,Even Ford does NOT practice this corruption. Don't get rub wrong, if you play you should pay,But Why should a BUYER pay not to Play.

Are you saying an international dealer(navistar) will do 6. 0 warranty work?

Bob

I am just amazed at how much "STUFF" guys are putting on these engines. I can see the Fuel system upgrades and oils to improve the longevity of this engine, but ALLLLLLL the posts on SMarty this, and Banks that, and Quadzilla, etc. etc... What is it that drives people to mod their trucks. I pull and I pull HEAVY and the performance of my truck is very good. Just my 2 cents!!! :)

Navistar, I have not heard of Navistar doing any warranty on light duty Pickups,I see International/Navistar Dealerships doing work on the 7. 3 and 6. 0 on regular Basis,( I have NOT ask if Ford Warranty or Not ) So obviously they are NOT electronically lock out Like Cummins. ISB owners can buy Parts from Cummins,But all authorized Cummins/Distributors don't have DC software or are authorized to do any work, also I have not seen or heard DC offering any assistance,Most likely reason Cummins Standards. Why send a Tech on a witch hunt.

Back in Feb/Jan we had a cold snap -20/30, do to new bio-diesel standards(here in MN) owners gel-up everywhere. I think Chris Did 60 filter changes in Two Days. Now GM/Ford/DC were pumping and drooping tanks to look for contamination,in some cases 20 to 30 gallons and charge $200. 00 to $400. 00 for service plus the tow charge. knowingly that customers were going to fill their tanks with the same Fuel. Instead of educating owner that MN fuel will separate at -17 and impossible to get a lower gel point ( Check with flintwood refinery in Rosemount MN one of the three Makers of fuel In MN) they just performed a witch Hunt ,looking to remove themselves from any future liability, at the Owners expense.
