Thoughts Please !!!!

What are your thought on a 96 4x4 5-speed Q-cab two tone with all power options and 70k. I'm looking at this truck and the guy wants $12,000 for it. Is this a good year for the 12v? Would you guys say go for it or keep looking? Please help me I'm new to the Diesel's Thanks Eric

Hey Eric, The first thing is it's not a QC. I sold my 95 reg cab last year with 199,000 miles on it. I got $11,000 out of it. If the truck is in good shape I would say it's well worth it. Check the front end for worn parts. Ask about the 5th gear nut. Can't think of anything else. Good luck. Jeff

Good deal.

I just got my '95 SLT CC 2x4 with 170k miles on it, GREAT condition with all options and camper top for 8k.

4x4 and much less mileage and a year newer I'd say 12k is more than fair.

I would say go for it. I hate to think that's all my truck is worth, knowing how good a truck it's been. Ask about the KDP, also, although I never had a problem with mine. Never had a problem with the 5th gear nut, either. Whoops, probably shouldn't have said that.

Jim

I'm with Rams-n-Hogs, I hate to think that's about what mine's worth, but that's how it goes. That's a good price and at 70k it's just broken in. If you have any doubts as to what's on it, get the VIN and go to your friendly Dodge dealer. They can print out the build sheet for the truck and you can see exactly what's on there. I don't know about the 5 speed, but I'd ask the owner if he knows anything about the Killer Dowel Pin (located inside the timing gear cover). Then I would try to figure out if the owner has done any power mods. Gauges would be your first clue, chipped paint on the injection pump would be your second. I wouldn't let power mods keep me from buying it, but it's good to know what your starting with. Let us know what you decide and good luck.

Just look in the classifieds then go buy it. And it's a Club Cab back then. Q-Cab is 98. 5 or newer and has the 1/2 doors on the back.

If you decide not to buy it - Post back with the phone number and I'm sure some one will jump on it. I would I was in the market for one.

I'd say it's a decent buy. There is a 98 12 valve in Farm World for 14,900. 117K miles 4x4 auto. I didn't think that was too bad either.

hmm, is 96 a good year? I drive my 96 every once in a while like I stole it, but I normally drive like I stole it and the cops are shooting at me. Anything that went wrong should have went wrong long before it did.

EFallecker,

That is a terrible price, the thing must be a peice of junk, please do not buy that truck. :D

By the way could you please e-mail me the location of this truck. My son-in-law is looking for a different truck and at that price he could sell his truck and buy this one and have money left over to take me out for supper. :D

Ron

If the truck checks out good, I would look at the oil the radiator fluid, kick the tires, test drive it, check the steering, and if the title is clear with no Rebuilt codes, I would say JumpOo. on it!!

That is real good price for the truck you described.
