Triple lock commander questions

I see 'Three-Bond' mentioned alot in the Cummins repair manual. I'm doing a KDP repair and the good book says to use Three Bond on the timing cover gasket. What from I've researched, it's a gasket sealer for use on engines. Can anyone tell me where to get Three Bond or what an equivalent of it is?

Your in luck because I can tell you what the equivalent is:

Loctite has a version that comes in a caulking tube and it is available at CarQuest or Napa "Loctite 5999".

Its a Gray RTV Flange/Gasket sealer.

You can also buy smaller tubes of it from CarQuest or Napa.

The smaller tube form is marketed by Permatex and is basically labled Gray RTV gasket sealer/maker.

Justin, I have two full tubes of Ultra Copper High Temp RTV gasket maker. Is the Gray any different, such as 'without air'- anerobic, or could the Ultra Copper be used? Although I could live without the orange mess around the timing cover if I used the Ultra Copper.

Three Bond is used in great quanitites in the powersports industry. When mechanics rebuild ATV and motorcycle engines, there is usually no gasket between the case halves. Three Bond is used as a gasket. Check with a local motorcycle shop to see if you can buy a tube. Yamabond is also the same thing, but under Yamaha's name. I buy this for guys that buy overhaul parts from me and you should not spend more than $5 or $6 for a tube. As mentioned in another post, the Permatex grey RTV appears to be really close to the Three Bond. Any of these will work.

Threebond offers many sealing products. My two favorites are 1104 and 1211. Yamabond 4 is the same as 1104. As JDKammin mentioned, these are often used for engine cases. While many people like the 1211, I've found it not to hold up around gasoline, so I'll use 1104 in that case (pun intended). If I were to only have one of those two, it would be 1104, but I don't know your need.

The Cummins repair manual should specify which Threebond product to use. It's kind of like saying to use Permatex sealant - which one?!?!?!
