Lately when I unlock the drivers door and open it I get three honks. The vehicle has not been tampered with. I am a bit embarrassed when it happens but what I really would prefer not to do is notify the entire neighborhood that I am leaving.

Does anyone know the fix for this?

Is it only when you unlock it with the key fob or is it when you physically open the door it honks? How are the batteries and all the connections? Check the wiring going to the door for cracks etc.

Try locking the door when you exit the truck with the key in the door lock. If you are locking the door with the door lock swittch then opening with the key rather than the fob that may trigger it???? The 99 I had did something like that. bg

Don't quote me on it but I think it honks if it's been "tampered with" since the last unlock. Check the manual. That doesn't help clear the error but it's a start.

As Road Dog said it is telling you some one has tried to tamper with it. Mine did the same thing & there is a module (Central Timing Module) under the dash to the right of the steering column that controls the lock & unlock with the remote & they found that military radio frequency's would cause it. The dealer warped it in aluminum foil & that fixed it. The dealer had a hard time finding out what it was & finally had to go through Chrysler Engineering to locate the problem. It would be alright if I locked & unlocked it with the key, It would only do it with the remote. They replaced it with a new one & it still did it that is why they had to go to Chrysler Engineering & they then did the aluminum wrap.

OK, thanks for the replies. Yes, I am locking the truck using the switch on the drivers door and then opening it with the key. I guess I will need to try the foil wrap on the Central Timing Module. I do live near an Air Force Base and we have regular traffic that fies over.

I stayed at Midway RV Park & it was one of the places I had trouble with the 3 horn honks. Had a lot of trouble in the Vegas area also + the Marysville, CA area also.
