Kinda looks like the stock clutch can only handle STOCK power or Smarty jr level 1. I NEVER tried the 100hp setting... ... HONESTLY!!!

Question 1) How noisy is the Southbend DD clutch?
I have to have the DD because I can't have a heavy and hard clutch pedal. I have a back injury and a hard clutch does me in if I get stuck in traffic. I need to hold 450-475hp. I don't drag race, sled pull, or see if I can pull some idiots truck out of a mud bog. I pull a 8,000 trailer. My mods will be Smarty jr mostly run on setting 2 but I do want to have the option to run setting 3.

Question 2) Where is the best price and service on these clutches? I will install myself (with help!).

Question 3) What will be the best combo without over-kill but capable of the HP I might run?
I looked on Southbend's site. this is the one I thought of.
South Bend Clutch Double Disc - SBC DD

SBC 3250 street comp 12CB sprung or rigid. Site says it will hold 550hp and have light pedal pressure.

I have the 3250 DD sprung hub in my truck, and love the darn thing. It has very light peddle pressure. I have the upgarded hydros too. I went from their 3600 DD to the clutch I have now, and it is a pleasure to drive now!! My 5' 100 lb daughter can drive it all day long ( if I would let her:) )

I have heard a lot of people are happy with that clutch.

I wish I would of bought it instead of my OFE.

I can tell you about the 3850# DD because that is what I have. It will hold 750HP and take all kinds of abuse. I have the hydraulics and the pedal pressure is about 1. 5 time stock and it is a noisy begger. But I wouldnt change it. I don't even notice the extra effory on the pedal anymore, somebody else drives it and thats their first comment.

I also have a 3250 DD. It is able to handle the TST PMCR max output with no problem.

It's somewhat noisier at idle, but I don't notice any difference compared to the stock clutch while cruising at highway speed.

3250

Motorhead, I drove MSchneider's '05 G-56 w/3250 DD. It has smooth off idle takeoffs and smooth downshifts. Approximately stock pedal pressure w/hd hydraulics. Noise inside cab was minimal. He's running a Bank's monster exhaust without cat so it was a bit louder at idle than stock exhaust. That would mask the chatter some. Outside clatter was not bad either. It's still not as loud as my '99 idling. Shifter shakes a dab more. I'm curious if a Fluidamper would improve the clatter more. He's near me in Santee. I don't know where you, live but it might be worth it to checkout firsthand.

The 3250 is a diaphragm clutch, rather than finger type pressure plate; thus, it will be much easier to drive on the street than the 3600, 3850, etc.

There have been many reports of the 3250 holding 800+ hp, and one or two at 900+.

I'm running the 3250 sprung hub version and love it.
