You know,my words don't taste to good, little hard to sallow to! I bought this D350 I got, love the truck, sold the W350 I had before and got this one. My buddies(we're all 4wd nuts, all of us got a mud truck). They ragged on me when I said I was going to sell the W350,said keep a 4wd,you know you'll need it. Then my smartars remark of saying, heck no yall are crazy,I never get into anything to where I need 4wd in my daily driver. Well now this is the third time in the short time I've owned this D350 that I've stuck it... more insult to injury, everytime has been in my yard  I love this truck but lord have mercy this thing don't get traction unless your on the road. Everytime I've had to go get my mud truck and hook up and pull it out of the little hole it's in. Mom ain't none to happy either with the four ruts I've dug each time :D Wonder why... . ? Oo. I bet this truck would go fine in snow but mud or really really wet grass forget it :( Now I find myself looking at the new ruts I just got done putting in the frontyard waiting for the hissy fit I'm gonna get when she gets home, cause you know she's gonna see em right off :-{} Ok I'm done LOL

Well number one, stay outta the front yard, number two, stay outta grass, and number three, do you have a limited slip rearend or a open diff? Does all four rear tires spin or just the two on the right? Might be time for a more aggressive thread for the rear tires. Or just stick with number one and two. :D

From looking at your pic's in readers rigs. Looks like you have a set of street thread. Those are bad once you get them off of pavement. Time for some tires with more aggressive thread.

My W350 was the same way till I steped up on the thread pattern. It made a big difference.

I once got our 93 W350 single wheel w/33 ats stuck on perfectly flat wet grass. I felt like an idiot locking the hubs to move 10 feet back onto the road.

Travis try parking on some ice and have the sun warm it up enough to sink the tires about 1/4". I had to lock the hubs to move out of the depression. roflmao

That's pretty much what happened, the front tires made small depressions and it couldn't get out :-laf

I feel your pain. ;) When I bought my truck I told myself I didn't need a 4WD - heck, if I want to go 'wheeling I take the Jeep. ;)

I have now had my truck stuck in the mud twice, each time with the cabover on. Each time my friend yanked me out with his 1/2-ton Chevy. :{ I also had to have my friend drag my truck and Jeep (being flat-towed) up a couple hills on a loose but relatively smooth dirt road because one wheel drive just wouldn't cut it. My decision has also caused a bit of stress on vacation the past two years when I ran into snow... .

Even though I'm kicking myself for buying a 2WD, I'm not ready to sell it and go through the hassle of trying to find a 4WD in comparable condition... especially since I'd have to fork over more $$$ to get one. ;)

I have gotten my 1wd stuck a few times, though not real bad. The 2wd with the LSD doesnt get stuck near as often. I think when/if I swap out the gears, I'll look for a LSD carrier, and put it in there. I had a D350 with a LSD and a 5 speed, and it would go through snow, mud, wet grass;) whatever. Nothing to 4-wheeling with, but it was better than the 1wd I ahve now.

BTW- my g/f and I were talking about this the other night (she works at a small shop in Cape Girardeau), and she said she's been told the duallies are worst in snow/ice. I've not noticed any difference between a SRW or DRW; the 1wheel drive makes more difference than the extra tires.

My 91 W250 that has street/road tread, got stuck on dry dirt/grass in my x's backyard. Tried to park off the driveway out of the way etc. Well first both rear tires just spun, get out lock hubs in, then all four tires spun. Tried everything, 4h,4l, forward, reverse, foot on brake, wot, all I did was did four nice holes in her dads yard. Even got out and watched the truck's tires sit there and spin and hop but not go anywhere. Tires make a difference IMO.

Now I don't feel so bad. Last March, I tried to move the 5er out of the back yard to the street. Sunny day, ground saturated with water, melting snow on the surface.

I backed across the yard with no big problems, dropped the 5er onto the hitch and tried to be very easy on the throttle to ease it out. Nothing moved but the back wheels (D250 with LSD) as they dug lower into the sod.

Buddy with Chevvy wrecker winched me across the yard to the street.

I like the Michelin LTX M/S for their wear, but I'm not at all sure they're enough to dig in and go in poor conditions. On the other hand, I've only been stuck this once. I also moved to Florida, and that will keep down the ice & snow problems.

FWIW - airing down the tires will help with traction too but it is a pain to have to air back up once back on the pavement... . I feel your pain w/ being stuck in your own yard... . been there done that! ;-)
