Three tries to start when engine warm

Hey I have a coworker with a 2006 with under 50,000 miles. He says when the engine is warm and/or the outside the engine is very tought to start, most of the time it takes 2 to 3 tries. I have not heard much of this so i figured i would get you all's advice.

PS, that i know of no codes are known, i will check into that though.

Could be many things, but I would check fuel preasures low and high. See if you can determine if the lift pump is good or if he has a sticking injector not allowing the hp to build. When my injectors went I had trouble starting. It can also be the return spring on the fuel rail bypassing fuel. Oh yea, change the fuel filter first.
