I recently installed an injector pump off a 180 hp truck which was then modified before installation.

The problem I have is that the throttle moves way to easy. On a rough road I'm blipping the throttle! I looked into the "bucking truck" TSB-18-29-97a, $220 retail!!

The throttle return springs are hooked up as is the kickdown cable.

Does anyone have any suggestions besides the TSB?

What were the pump modifications?

If it included governor springs they may be a click or two tight.

How's the shoulder?

Hi John!

Shoulder is doing great! (so far) But I haven't gotten on a sled yet!

I installed a 3k GSK and had a shop adjust the fuel delivery to 260 centistokes/1000 strokes. Due to a bad plunger and barrel on the core, it ended up being an overhaul and they ground a custom plate, set the gov springs and the everything else on the stand.

It does seem like the springs might be a click too tight as I have to blip the throttle to get the engine to fire and when cold (20's) it seems like the gov is "hunting" a little. It revs ot 3,400 RPM in 2nd and I backed out at 3,900 RPM no load, high idle check as I don't have the hd exhaust valve springs.

I stopped in and talked to the pump shop the other day and after hearing about the adjustments involved to generate the fuel curve, I'm hesitant to jump into the pump and start adjusting things myself.

It does sound like the springs might be a click or two too tight though. I did that on my first install on my old pump but the throttle didn't seem this easy. Do you think I ought to look at the springs settings?

oops;

Misread your first post. I thought the throttle action to engine rpm was the problem. That's why I mentioned governor springs. If you don't have a nice even power and rpm rise with throttle action then the springs are probably tight.

I ran outside and checked my truck to count springs. 2 extension springs on the bottom of the throttle arm. I torsional spring in the TPS. Did you reuse the original linkage or use the new(er) linkage? You should be able to get slightly tighter enxtensions springs to get the throttle heavier.

Not enough snow for sledding up here. I'm not sure if the lake ice is thick enough either.

All the linkage is from the original set up, both springs are in place and weren`t stretched during the change.

I did lube the ball joint`s but I`ve done that before and it didn`t get anywhere near this easy.

We have good ice, still no snow. I`m in Canadia for the week, complete with goofy french windows and wierd keyboard...
