Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Throttle bellcrank problem

Every time I am towing a large load up a decent hill, the bellcrank towards the firewall pops off, leaving me at idle (at least it will still pull uphill at idle in granny). I've searched but I can't find the exact fix. I imagine I could just buy a new bellcrank and pivot ball, but I thought I would ask here.

There's a TSB out for this (click here for the TSB info). You can buy the complete upgrade kit including new throttle cable for around $13. 65+shipping. The part # is: CANZ9700

There is a throttle linkage recall. I think it applies to your '94. Have a dealer check to see if it has been done to your truck. If not, it's a safety recall so it's free.

I've seen that page, and it specifically says 1997-1998 trucks.

The recall was for 94-96 Dodge/CTD's, recall number 970.

From looking at the web pages, it looks like the dealer will "pay me" for the time they would normally charge to do the recall, and obviously provide the parts? I'd much rather replace the parts myself.



Has anyone found this to be the case?
