Is the only adjustment for the throttle cable the throttle rod? I have a lot of slack in my throttle cable and don't see anyway to adjust this out, the only adjustment I see is on the throttle rod, I need to do some adjusting because I have to mash the throttle pedal really hard and push on the top of the pedal to get full throttle. The throttle pedal seems like it should have more travel than what it's got.

Adjusting the throttle rod between the injection pump and the throttle belcrank will raise the pedal in the truck and give you more travel. There is an overtravel spring on the throttle linkage at the bellcrank pivot. If set for full travel, you will be able to see the rod stop moving while the cable and pedal continue to go a little farther. (Easiest if you have someone step on the throttle for you. )

Has your throttle cable been replaced? I had a very similar problem and the cable was actually stretched. There was not enough adjustment to take up the slack. Replaced cable, problem solved.

throttle cable

Pearson, has your cable been replaced according to the recall? # _970_, if it has a bare cable it is the original. the new one has a plastic cover that goes all the way down to the end, by the connector. if you have a dealer that you feel good about, have them check your Vin# to see if you qualify for the replacement. it includes a new cable and new rod ends, takes about a hour to replace. or you can buy and do it your self, but it will cost you, out of your pocket.

loose cable

you can take the extra play/slop out of the cable by putting washers, small ones, cut one side to help slip on, be hind the peddle, to aid the pull on a little better, or use a small cable end crimp, cut on one side, slid over the cable and closed. it will raise the throttle peddle a little higher.

Mine was the same way dealer replaced the cable, but I think that the belcrank levers are suppose to be replaced too or at least adjusted... however I put washer behind the pedal also and now I get full throttle, truck wouldnt even go 75 mph,now I can get up to 95... ... Rick

I used zip ties around the cable at the pedal end to raise the pedal off the floor. Made a HUGE difference in power. dealer did the recall and i still had to go back to the zip ties.
