My throttle cable socket at the engine falls off the ball on the pump linkage. Pls help with numbers on parts replacement. Do I have to replace the entire arm on pump linkage or has someone removed the ball and replace with steel. Cable seems free and usable but socket may be worn which is hard to guage without new ball.

12 valve mostly stock in 95 3500 C&C

You have a recall on the throttle cable and linkage that should take care of your issue. The recall # is 970 IIRC.

A recall was performed to replace the throttle cable years ago. I do not recall whether they replaced the arm with ball at that time. I would surmise that recall would not cover normal wear at this time. I welcome your response.

Thanks for the response on those bushings. My truck has the 5 spd manual so the tps issues are moot on my vehicle.

The ball studs should have been replaced, but I am still finding some that were not.CANZ9700 is the part # that includes the studs, nuts, and cable

I used a "loosely"applied zip tie temporarily until I had my recall performed. As I'm sure you are well aware of, the throttle cable jumping off can be very dangerous. Mine liked to jump off over rail road tracks.

Hey, my throttle linkage fell off today... I thought I've read that the sockets were plastic, but this thread indicates the balls are plastic, right? Which is it? (or both?)

My truck was either not part of the recall or it was already done in the distant past, as mopar.com shows I am not eligible for any recalls.

I'd really like a quick and easy fix, like screw on new sockets, not disassemble the linkage and peen in new balls. Don't have time to deal with it , and just ordered $600 in parts for the wife's car...

thanks
kevin
