I was getting onto I80 this morning in Cheyenne and trying to get up to speed with trafic pulling a GN stocktrailer. I was running 23 on boost and 1150 on pyro and herd a pop under the hood and my foot throttle got realy soft. It has always been some what firm, but not hard to push. Has a 24v feel now. I have checked for broken springs but can't see anything. Any ideas.

cable

danyl,

Did you check the springs? Yes there are 2. Look into your illistrations on the fuel pump. The front spring is easy to see. the rear one you have to feel for underneath. But you can do it. I noticed the second while adjusting my idle screw.

let me know how it goes.

cable fix

Danyl,

We all benefit from each other. It is not always the most complicated fixes that are needed. You made my day that it now works. Oo.

Now, we can work on that triple disc torque converter by Groeend Brothers.

Keep on truckin.

Keep the shinny side up!

Recall

The other day I received a recall letter for the throttle cable from DC, have not taken my truck in yet so I don't know what all it involves (believe it covers the 95-98 12v)

The recall parts are a new throttle cable, ball studs and sockets. If you have previously replaced the throttle cable, you have the updated one. It has a plastic sleeve over the cable at the wear point. I bought the parts for around $25. DC will reimburse for recall parts if you send them the receipt to the address on the recall notice. Did my last recall this way (heater relay) and was much more pleased with my own work than what the stealer does.

Do get that Throttle cable replaced. My wife nearly missed a serious accident when my cable frayed and and jammed the throttle wide open. I became enraged when DC "REFUSED" to cover the repair under warranty, so I reported it to NHTSA, who was only to eager to check it out, as the were embroiled in some faulty tire issues and had stepped up investigations. I posted it on the TDR, and lo and behold, other TDR members had similar occurances. Due to the help of these members, we forced DC to come to justice, and the rest is history. :) :)

DPhillips,

I personaly want to thank you for your efforts. Consumers need to speak up! All it takes is to start the ball rolling as you have proved. A large ATABOY to you.

I did have my throttle cable replaced by my STEALER too. Sometimesits worth it. While it was there they checked for any missing updates. Then they gave me a printout to make sure the updates were current. :--)

Keep up the good work!

If your throttle return spring breaks and you are far from home (like in NW New Mexico) NAPA spring #770-2142 will get you back. It has small loops on both ends that snap onto the linkage and is stiff enough to close the microswitch on the e-brake.
