throttle hesitation

When I first start my 05 diesel,If I accelerate it hard there is a hesitation. If I just let it idle a few seconds it doesnt hesitate any more. Is this a beginning of a problem?Any ideas are appreciated.

I can honestly say I have never tried, that doesn't sound very good for the motor. It takes a few seconds to get full oil pressure.

no sir,the oil pressure up,Im merely goosing it. It has 125,000 miles on it

What is the timeline after start? The oil pressure on the dash is fake, and real oil pressure takes 2-3 seconds longer than the dash does, sometimes more in cold weather.

Automatic or Manual?

From the owners manual about automatics.

NOTE: If the vehicle has not been driven in several
days, the first few seconds of operation after shifting the
transmission into gear may seem sluggish. This is due to
the fluid partially draining from the torque converter into
the transmission. This condition is normal and will not
cause damage to the transmission. The torque converter
will refill within five seconds of shifting from Park into
any other gear position.

The two can be related.

If you provide more information when you post a questions you won't get responses and questions that do not deal with your truck. I suggest filling out your signature with some truck basics, it really helps the diagnosis.

Again I ask, what is the timeline after you start?

Why are you doing this? Is it related to your old gasser days with a junky ole flooding carb that needed some revs to clear it up?

So are you talking about just free reeving it, or going to drive away. Really the more information the better.

Yes,I felt it was sluggish,slow responce so i reved it to about 2000 RPMs

No,i dont do this on a regular basis. I was not driving it at the time. Imjust asking if is there a problem arising or is this normal?

How many miles since you changed the fuel filter? The interval is usually every 15,000 miles. You could have some fuel starvation first thing.

WE are ALL here to help. It can sometimes be VERY difficult to diagnose someones problems or issues without being right there at your truck and hearing or feeling the issue with our own ears or eyes. AH64ID and many like him including myself have good to excellent varied experience with these great trucks. That is why we ask for as MUCH information as the person with the issue can give us. Each truck model and configuration of transmissions, emissions, engine control, ect. has its own set of sometimes common issues.

Now that info maybe what was happening,thank you. I was just worried I had a serious problem developing due to a computer or part going bad. I hate being on the road and have something fail and not knowing what happened. I previosly owned a 01 dodge with lift pump issues on occasion. I always carried an extra one and could change 1 in 15 min on the road. I just like to keep informed and aware of potential problems.

I currently have 6000 miles on the fuel filter.
