Throttle linkage. Is there arecall?

My throttle linkage is ready to bite the dust. The one ball end is going to break anytime. I dont remember if there was a recall on this. But I think there was some sort of updat on this?

Anybody have the scoop on this?

There is a linkage recall on the '95. If you didn't buy it new, then take the VIN to the dealer. They can look it up and see if the recall has been done to yours. It's a safety recall so it's free.

Jeff;

The throttle linkage recall is only for 97-98 trucks.

If yours is shot than talk to a dealer and see if the P/Ns will cross over. Have them order the recall kit for you. Usually a recall kit is a substantial price reduction over piece part.

My truck is heading in for recall #4 which is the throttle linkage.

Every so often, mine sticks at like 2K RPM, and the only way to get it unstuck, is either floor it a few times, or go under the hood, and manually move the piece back under the pump, by the lift pump. On one occasion, without my foot on throttle, motor died... does this have anything to do with the linkage???

Throttle cable and linkage ends were repaired under safety recall on my 95--just the other day.

Monkey tech routed the cable all stupid and I had to re-do it. And the idle was cranked up from the linkage ends replacement... so much for "safety".

It's a shame they can't just give you the parts. :rolleyes:

my dads truck is a 98 12v he took it in about 2 months ago for the throttle cable recall. the cable was all messed up. they changed it and off he went!

Make SURE they replace the cable AND the rod ends! I took mine to the local dealer and had them perform the recall repairs. 2 months later one of the rod ends broke because the tech had decided that replacing them wasn't necessary.
