Transmission Adjustment

I am about to service the automatic transmissions on our '92-93 service trucks and have some questions. Do any of yall know the best procedure to check/adjust the "bands" on the auto/od transmission? Also, is there a way to test/adjust the throttle position sensor that controls 4th gear on these transmissions? One of our '92 models (350, 2wd, auto/od, 3. 54) "hunts" between 3rd and 4th and sometimes won't even go into 4th. The transmission shifts fine other than the 3-4/4-3 thing. We keep the oil changed regularly and I adjusted the bands on one transmission before, but want to make sure it is properly done while we have the pan off. They have between 80,000 and 140,000 miles and have been serviced with OEM filters and Amsoil ATF oil. Thanks for any help you may be able to offer!

I just posted (one weekend ago) the steps nesessary to adjust the bands and there was also a member (JBolt) who posted a question about checking/adjusting the TPS.

Simply do a search from the previous week and you will uncover the threads related to said topics.

For the record, I don't "adjust" my TPS. I simply turn the adjusting bolt to the point I want the shift to occur under a given throttle position.

You will want to pay close attention to the bolt head and the soccet in which the bolt head is seated. This "soccet" is the cap nut that secures the injection pump's throttle shaft. If either is loose (where the two parts contact one another, you will have erratic operation.

Thanks for the help as always yall! I am fixing to get started on all three of these trucks. This is the reason I enjoy TDR and have been a long time member. Well appreciated advice, guys! Thanks, John
