For some of you guys that may need a new TPS, check the Classifieds.

I bought one from this fellow some time ago and it was just as described.

I have no connection with this person olther than my own purchase but feel it would be a good deal for someone who needs one.

$60 aint bad.

I bought the one I have several months ago from the same person.

When he sent me mine, he said that he had several of them available.

His ad disappeared after a few weeks and I figured he had sold out.

I just noticed his current ad a couple days ago.

The one he sent me was in a "Genuine Cummins Parts" box labeled with the following information:

Origin US

WT. 0. 2

DATE 02-DEC-02

PKGR. MDC

DESC. SEN,POS

PART NO. 3930318 (This is also the number stamped on the sensor)

Another number, 3925378, which I assume is DC's number, is hand written on the box. This is the same number that is on the original sensor from my truck.

I compared the two and they are identical except for the numbers.

It turns out I didn't need it but for $60 I can afford to have a spare. It is in the truck now. My original one is in the spare parts drawer.

For what it is worth, I am more than satisfied with the deal.

Speaking of TPS and needing to replace them. Has anyone done the Tech. Service fix (I forget the #) that re-programs the brain box so the O/D lockup happens at a higher speed than 45 MPH? My local dealer wants $65. 00 to do it. I've tried all the other fixes without success. Wondering if the cost is worth it in terms of ... Does It Fix The Problem. Thanks

Six. Shooter,

I haven't heard about that option but I think it would be worth the money.

I'm not sure my local dealer could handle it.

Might be one in Wenatchee or Spokane.

Howard... I have the TSB # at home. Since my PC at home died and new one not here yet, it will not be until Monday that I can send it along. Maybe others are interested.

TSB #

Howard... and anyone else interested. The TSB # is as follows 21-04-95. One can assume it hasn't changed any. I got this from a reliable source (Piers) and my local dealer was able to look it up. Here is the quote from Piers... "The 94/95 trucks were so bad for this problem that there was a TSB out to have the computer programmed to stop them from going into overdrive lockup at such a low mile per hour". Keep in mind he was referencing trucks with 3:54 gearing. Hope it helps. It sure would seem that if an auto manufacturer knows enough about a problem that they provide a TSB for it, that they would make the correction free of charge for the sake of customer relations. :-{}

Cooker... I understand that. Recalls are almost always safety related and only offered because the manufacturers are forced to offer it. The point I'm attempting to make is if they know they have a piece of **** design, and have thousands of unhappy customers that they would want to correct it. The automobile industry is one of the few that can get away with this kind of customer relations. Who's to blame, IMHO, we the consumers are. Will this change in the near future if the consumer rebeled? Probably not. All they have managed to do for me is take away my loyalty. And they wonder why so many American's buy foreign. When it comes to my next new truck, the manufacturer with the best thing going wins. That may be Chrysler Corp. , but somehow I doubt it. Yes, I do have a tremendous appreciation for the Cummins engine. Too bad I can't say the same for the manufacturer of the vehicle that uses this engine in their pickups.

I called the local dealer about the TSB (21-04-95).

He looked it up and said he would do it for me for $30. 00 plus tax.

My truck really needs it, it has the 3. 54 gears and it shifts into OD and lockup way too soon so I am taking it in today.

I'll let you know if it works.

Took the truck to the dealer yesterday for the upgrade and found that my PCM cannot be re-programmed. I would have to buy a new one at the tune of $400 or more.

I am not sure if my 47RH valve body can be fooled into shifting later or not.

This isn't the first disappointment DC has dealt me since I bought the truck and I am feeling less and less inclined to let them get at me again.
