Mypedal has been very light and touchy. today while changing the steering box I noticed a double spring on the floor. Im guessing its the return spring. I have no idea where it came from and cant find one online under throttle return spring. HELP!!!! lol

I will take a look at mine here in a few have to move it to get something out of the garage.

But in the manual I don't see a double spring inside the cab for my 96, my 96 service manual 14-109 shows the cable to pedal inside, for the actual throttle linkage on the pump it's on 14-22, it shows a 5" adjustment at proper idle. Then it looks like the cable attaches to the ball end, but there are a few steps in there. Doubt your physical linkage is out of adjustment if you haven't messed with it.

I have read about the cable fraying, stretching and going bad stranding folks, so I have one to change in mine but have not done that yet.

TechAuthority has some free trial I thought, but that may have changed if you need the info now and can't find it here.

There was something about the return spring. Seems they went to double spring . Ihave one big spring. It came off and my mechanic tied it on so it would not come off

The double spring was to combat the overly sensitive throttle action that would sometimes turn into a bucking situation. The spring location is low on the linkage,if you look closely with good lighting you will probably be able to see some witness marks/rust where it connected.I no longer have my 94 so I can't take a picture to show it.

This is the lower spring on '94 -'96.

The double spring is on '97 & '98 models. I've never heard of a retrofit but it wouldn't be difficult, just expensive.

Thanks guys the diagrams should help me out. Due to my carp vision from my accident I won't be able to see rust marks

The origonal single spring superceded to a spring in a spring design and was also included in the throttle cable recall package. The spring also has a soft material coating on the ends to prevent wearing into the lever

My Jacob EB came with a heavier spring for the '97-'98 and an extra spring that slips inside the '94-'96 spring. I don't have a '96 engine in my Quickserve account so perhaps Scott can look up the part number or Kenny could start one of his own. My throttle recall packages all came with the original type spring for the '96, but for all I know it is heavier duty. IIRC, the spring in the picture is one from a recall kit.

My quick serve for my 96 shows one spring. But I can tell there are a few revs. Item 3 from what I can see.

That is the single spring shown in my picture, #3 in the parts blow-up. The bracket in the picture that is laying loose is bolted to the IP support.
