OK next question for our panel of experts. My trucks bucks sometimes at around 45 mph while accelerating and pulling the 5th wheel RV. The cable looks fine and I think it is the newer style with the plastic sheve to prevent frayiing. The pedal doesn't feel as stiff as it used to so I am thinking time for a replacement spring.

Are there different ones that are stronger? And is a real pain to change them out?

Thanks again, Roger

Roger,

It may not be your throttle spring. Check to see if the "kick down" cable and the spring on the transmission lever is ok.

The last spring set I got had the ends covered with plastic. Maybe they will wear longer? The are easy to change.

Yep, & mine only did it towing the 5'er & up-hill. There is a linkage kit that Dodge will change under warranty. I don't have the receipt in front of me, but they have it. Fixed, end of story. #ad

The only down side is the mucho stronger pedal effort. I'll just bet that if you remove the single spring on the linkage, measure it & get a stiffer one from your local Pep-Boys, same length, it'll fix it. It's a wimpy spring. Go out & manually do the linkage. It's way too easy.

I found a spring hanging on mine. Unhooked the good end and took it down to the local parts house and bought one that was slighly shorter and it was a cut to fit. Bent it where it needed and cut the excess off. Works great sofar. #ad

Roger, mine did that about half way thru 3rd gear. DC fixed it in warranty - tsb 18-29-97. After the tech finished,we went for a ride and it was cured. He said the fix included different bellcranks and springs. Craig
