Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Throttle sticking & Tight.

MY truck had been sitting for about a week. Yesterday when I pulled out of the driveway. The go pedal was quite resistant. Then when I would let off the rpm's came down kinda slow. When I got to work I open up the hood. Disconected the linkage and move the throttle lever back and forth just underneath the afc. That was fine. Then looked at where the linkage and throttle cable attach on that rocker. Don't know exact name. Just called it rocker. Has a spring on the shaft to. Well that thing was definatly rusted pretty bad. Also was really stiff to rock back and forth. So I sprayed some penatrating fluid on it. When I got home this morning I flushed it out. Then dropped a few drops of motor oil around the shaft hoping it would loosen the rocker up. It worked. Think I'll give it a drop of oil at every service interval.

Check with the dealer as there is a throttle recall and yours may be an original. they will install an updated one also the headlight switch which is covered for the life of the vehicle as a safety related item as is the throttle cable. stormy

The item you lubed is called the bell crank.

With mine lubing didn't work. The bell part on the linkage had a flat spot worn on it. I just replaced the limkage and then get a recall notice. Now I got it fixed though.
