I have a '99 VP44. I have searched the threads and I cannot find the answer I am looking 4. How is the white clip removed from the. cable going to the Bell housing for the throttle valve? How is it adjusted? I jest installled a new Goerend and It has about 1/16" play @ idle. The trans shifts perfect though. Thank U 4 your help. George

The clip is two legged and about 3/4" long, If I remember correctly, you can take a small screw driver and insert it under the big end of the clip and gently pry it out a little. Be careful that it doesn't come all the way out and you lose it. You can't get it by it's self and have to buy a new cable for abouy $60. 00 The easiest way to figure it out is to remove the end of the cable from the lever and reach inside the bracket that the cable housing attaches to and release the black retainer clips and pull the whole cable end out where you can see it. As you probably already know the end of the cable housing has little grooves in it that are locked in place when the proper adjustment is reached by the little white clip. bg

Word of advice: if it's shifting perfectly - don't screw with the cable / clip. Like B. G. Smith indicated "$60" for the part, that's almost a tank of fuel.

When my DTT went in cable adjustments were made to "get the shift points close" then we had to bend the mounting arm "a bit" numerous time to get it to shift "right where" I wanted it to.

So, like I said earlier, if its shifting fine and you like it, leave it alone - MHO
