I have a question concerning the throttle valve cable on a 96 auto truck. What does the transmission do based on sensing or having the throttle position via the cable?

Now suppose the transmission had a new TC installed by the dealer and they failed to put the bracket back on the shaft at the transmission or that they failed to tighten it enough such that it came off. Any long term problems with the transmission because of it?

I discovered the bracket hanging by the return spring on my buddy's truck. We had just gotten done with the tabbing the KDP and replacing the contacts. He found where the bracket went and I got it installed. Now he says it drives like a whole new truck. The truck as approx. 134k and the TC was replaced around 60k-70k.

The cable pulls a lever that increases pressure in the valve body. If it does not move the transmission behaves as if the engine was idling. The usual symptom is that the truck shifts up at too low a speed so it's kind of a dog because it's lugging a lot.
