Just experienced my 2015 ecodiesel at 36000km with total failure. Experienced slight sway feeling as the truck warmed up. Then a total failure less then 1000k later. New engine being installed by dealer as I type.

Good luck with that you'll be out of truck for about 40 days . Motors need to be flown in from Italy in a C130 then dropped over the dealership

"Motors need to be flown in from Italy in a C130 then dropped over the dealership"............That's great.......Do you get to keep the parachute or not? lololol

Well that explains that, I have never liked the Cadillac
.

Not anything to do with the OP but we LOVE our Caddy's

Penny's CTS and My Escalade (if I've spelt that correctly) are Great, I really would have like to try the Escalade if it is available in a Diesel but with the Afterburner exhaust systems on ANY DIESEL my Dodge 04 will be the last one for me.

The 4th Gen 5500 that some of my In-laws bought for me to use when I wanted sits idle its F U and left me high and dry in Eastern Montana more than once and a 10 mile hike at certain times of the year to gain Cell Service can be a safety issue.

Skid drop them we received a Duce and a half in Vietnam on a UN-balanced skid the first 200 or 300 yards of the drop went well until the front of the skid dug into the ground. I don't think that I need to tell what the Duce and a Half went through so I cant see any danger of putting a WOPP Motor through the same treatment.

That's to bad, I would love to buy an old Deuce & 1/2. I rebuilt them from the frame up in Germany, there were a couple that were assigned to my squad that only had a frame with wheels on them. They were then painted and mothballed in K-town, incase the Russians invaded. They were finally sent to Iraq during the invasion, after sitting for 30 years. I often wondered how they fared, sitting all that time in K-Town.

To each his own Big, you couldn't give me a GM product, just saying.

I believe that this is the point that we are expected to throw verbal abuse towards each other isn't it?*:-laf

Leaktroit, Scatterpillar, and Cumapart are all fighting words on any diesel forum!! They are all good IMHO... That said, let us now give thanks to Mr. Rudolf Diesel for giving all of us a reason to put on a pair of boxing gloves!!

Take it from someone that makes a living off people's Diesel related misery, they ALL give trouble at some point. Some worse than others....:D

No problems with almost!!! any oil burning motor Mikey just the crap the government made companies add downstream to rid the world of the nasty exhaust pollutants.*

Truthfully speaking from practical experience, I think the learning curve for this is nearly done, and the worst is over. Most diesels especially class 8's are doing pretty good now than before.

I said it when FCA dropped the Cummins, that there's no way I would want to buy a Fiat Diesel. I don't trust the Italians to build a Diesel for our intended market of light trucks that handle the same loads as what Italians would consider to be a medium duty truck. There's no excuse for the blown engines, when FCA had the perfect 1500 in the plans with a Cummins Diesel V8 developed just for our market. They got greedy and now the customers are stuck with misery of dealing with a hurried plan so Fiat would make more money. JMHO.

I don't think it was FCA who killed the deal. It was still DCX or (gasp) Cererbus. I think FCA came into a situation and this was their solution. And I still believe they're angling a way to vertically integrate the 25/5500's too.

I wish it was that simple. 2014's, 2015's and 2016's have all had catastrophic engine failures. Can you provide a source indicating FCA has acknowledged ecodiesel engine failures?

I don't remember exactly, but I believe it was a post by Keith at Green Diesel in a discussion on the 1500 ED forum, might have been jeep forum. Keith is probably the most knowledgeable person in the US on the VM diesels.

When I worked at Cummins back in the 80's, we had a guy on the rebuild line that did not torque the rod bolts, which in turn caused the guy working the dyno to drop a deuce in his britches
when the rod blew right through the oil pan.

There was a certain number of early ecodiesels that left the factory with improper torque on the rod end cap bolts. ALL of these will fail and FCA has acknowledge this. This
sounds like one of those engines. Sorry for your bad luck.

I purchased a new BMW S1000RR in 2012. Two weeks after I took delivery, there was a world halt to all sales of that model. Reason: Improper torque and non-approved residue on the rod bolts, resulting in danger of catastrophic engine failure. I managed to get my dealer to take my bike back, and we ordered a new one, several thousand units beyond the affected serial numbers. I lucked out with my dealer. All others had to allow the dealers to remove the engines in their brand new bikes, and rebuild the lower ends.

Jesus I hope you are wrong but I understand why you would say it..........Follow the money.

Yea it really pains me to beat this drum, but yea follow the money.
Perhaps now that Trump is shaking the trees, they'll come to their senses.
I did have a chance to chat up one of our vendor's warranty mechanics (Hoffman equipment), and I asked how Case is doing overall since FIAT basically owns them too, and put their engines in there as well. I had to wrangle a bit, but he did admit to more issues than a machine like a wheel loader should have, but Case definetly not what it once was.
