Thunder in Muncie 2012!!

There are a lot of us going.

I wish it was more addvertised, and a schedule, but I'm going with friends.

Probably will make the trip. Sucks that both events are on the same day... wtf? But, with O'reillys giving away tickets to the ORP event that $15 would pay for my fuel out there and maybe back if I nurse it.

I'm going!

I am going, of course Matt already knows that since I am riding with him in the big Mercedes (diesel of course).

I hope you guys going to ORP have more fun than we did last year... more cops than the end of the Blues Brothers movie. So few drag racers virtually everyone made the finals in some classes. We were under more scrutiny that the detainees at Gitmo. The only good thing was visiting and making friends and I expect there will be plenty of that at Tim this year.

Scott

Heck yeah - we're starting the one vehicle caravan towards Muncie tomorrow morning just as soon as Scott makes it to my house! I'm pumped.

Scott: I filled the Merc with ~9. 25 (!!) quarts of Rotella-T synthetic last night. Other than the u-joint on the driveshaft being a little stiff and causing a vibration on the highway... she's good to go.

Anyone else who might heading to TiM and wants to have a beer or 10 with us - drop me an email via the link here on the TDR.

Last year at ORP was a joke - and the afterhours stuff? HA! I agree with Scott - I've seen fewer cops at hostage standoff situations. Granted, stuff can and does get a little out of hand with big crowds fueled by beer... but it was just absurdly boring last year... and the racing was lame. Muncie was ALWAYS laid back - and I really hope things are still fun, yet under control this year.

Is that tavern still open right next to the Lee's Inn? The one where the coeds were dancing on the bar when we were last there... or so I was told. ;)

Drunken rednecks better not ruin the event like they did at TS - those guys need to make reparations! Sons of guns.

Heck - #2 fuel was $2. 45 a gallon this morning - so fuel price isn't an excuse. The best way to boost the economy is to spend - so get out there and do your civic duty! The kid's new shoes or laptop for college can wait. :-laf No time off? Call in dead! When you show up on Monday with a sunburn and blood shot eyes - just blame me. :D

Beers,

Matt

I will be at TiM with a few friends... . bringing the TDI passat. I just hope this event isnt a bust... ... its got a big reputation to live up to.

What was everyone's thoughts of the TIM event? Did the drag's have any better turn out than the pull's?

I thought TiM was a bust. The phrase Blunder in Muncie is more appropriate. I have no doubt in my mind that the Indy event took some of the "thunder" away from Muncie but even with Indy on the same weekend, it was a pretty lame event.

The drags were not any better than the pulls IMO. The weather was pretty good, and it was a great opportunity to meet some of the vendors like the guys from Engineered Diesel and Zack from Hamilton Cams.

Nothing, and I mean nothing ran on time and competitor turnout was very low overall. I am sure that the "2 events on the same weekend 1 hr apart" deal was once in a lifetime, but I have my doubts if TiM will happen again.

You speak the truth FordCummins, and are correct in the opportunity it afforded some of us to speak with vendors. Zach was able to sell my bro a cam, so it wasnt a total bust for him. Well..... considering the trive from Texas... may have been. I dont know that we will see another TIM!

Well boys, NADM took over for 2010, and it was flooded out, canceled. We tried it again this year, about a month ago, and it was a success.

We just tried pulling, to keep the risk down. Next year we will try to bring racing back to it. All we can do is advertise and guarantee purses, its up to you guys to make it the show it once was.

See you in 2012!!
