GTDR and GDOA Meeting for December

Scheids or Muncie Which one?

In the most unfortunate acts of greed, one of Thunder in Muncie's venues has become unavailable. This forces us to look else where to bring the finest in diesel motorsports to you. I have contacted Indianapolis Raceway Park and they are unable to help us because of the terrible shape the return road is in currently.

This event has been built by you great people and so I ask what your suggestions are. I can contact

Chicagoland Speedway

Gateway International (St. Louis area)

Edgewater (Cincinnati, OH)

I appreciate everyone taking the time to help. Unless some serious negotiations take place, we will not be hosting Thunder in Muncie in Muncie, Indiana.

If you do not have posting privleges you may contact me at -- email address removed --.

Eric,

What's the area you would like to stay in?

How about Thunder in Sacramento:D

Muncie was on my must go to list because I had so much fun last year, but this year i'll be ready to set a record for the 1320.

Thunder in St. Louis sounds good to me. I really want to go next year and the closer to me the better :) . Wherever it is I will try and be there.

Bring it into Michigan

Eric,

Last year was my first at Muncie and is on my must do list this year. I will be there were ever it ends up. Thanks for the heads up on your troubles. I am sure what ever decision you make, it will be the right one for the DHRA.

I am a newbie to Drags anyway and am looking forward to my first year at the track if my wife lets me compete in Div 3. If you do look north, you were at US131 in the summer, but there is also a very nice venue in Stanton, MI. I believe it is called Mid Michigan Motorplex, not sure, but is was a lot nicer than US131 before they rebuilt it a couple years ago.

Wow, what a shame. I really had a good time in muncie last year, but I'm sure it was more the people and trucks that made it that way, not the location. I hope to be there this year no matter where its at.

With all that said, I hope it's in Cincinnati, OH. It's the closest to muncie of the three, so more than likely, everyone who has made the previous Thunder in Muncies will be able to make this trip. As far as location goes anyway...

Plus it's the closest to me. :) That's my vote.

Later,

Chris

WHAT! Tell me it isnt so. Bunker Hill? We have to have the Indiana Event dont we. Oh wait there is the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza. Bummer! You know me, I will be there where ever it is:D I hope to be working less hours next year so I can help out. Kirk

St. Louis is a more central location in the US. The truck pulls are starting to get bigger there. I know there would be plenty of help in that area. I know of several people including myself that would be willing to take on responsibilties to make it happen.

Anything you need Eric You let me know!

I'll drive to Muncie.

I'll drive further.

If I had to, I'd swim somewhere and pull the truck on a barge. TiM is fun.

Whatever works Eric.

ST. Louis

St. louis is a great area for this. I live close to the St. louis area. About 5 miles from Six flags let me know if you need any help. I'll try to help the best I can.

Paul

St. Louis would be idea I think. You could get a more "western" crowd, with still being close to the east.

Just my, $. 02

St. Louis

St. Louis sounds good to me, cuz thats where I live. I will help out any way that I can Eric, just let me know.

I like the Gateway idea with one problem.

From what I saw last year at Muncie, there will be MANY tickets written in Illinois!!

The State Troopers will tie up trafic like you have never seen just to slow traffic. They do it at the state fairs and all car shows with much trafic.

Can we do it in Missouri?

Or better yet, just show up in Muncie any way.

Maybe at the Indy track we could just do the sled pulls on the return road to help them prep it.

Hey Eric, all I ask is, as crazy as some of us are. Especially some of the guys... ok... ok, most all of us that attend these events.

We need a sleep 'ole town, that doesn't mind some action. I've heard Schieds was somewhat of a bummer after a day of the event, as the Cops were everywhere just waiting to catch somebody a little off kilter.

In Muncie, one night, I was with a bunch of guys doing donuts in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Cops came around, and said, Guys,, We got a call about some noise,, Keep it down, and about 2 seconds later, they looked at the parking lot and both of the cops said, WOW, Did yall do that,, and nobody wanted to admit it, when somebody piped up, and squeemishly said, Yes. The cop then Proceeded to say that was Awesome, and if we could do it some more so they could see, as they had never seen a diesel do that before!! I was Floored! If I wouldn't have blown my motor on the way to the Event, I would have hopped right in and showed him some Diesel Power!

I mis-use my Diesel Power, therefore, I would like to see something along the lines of a burnout/donut competition. Burnouts are cool, but I really love to swing the truck around doing donuts, and long slides, like Piers does in his Video's.

My biggest concern is getting too far away that I lose the big hammers in this area and east. I believe they will all go to St. Louis. I will start negotiations with Gateway and Edgewater. I appreciate the support and I am especially pleased to hear that you will go wherever I land!

Maybe Merrick is right. TiM started as a Hilljack event, we should keep it that way!!;)

Dragway 42 as a dual sled track, right next to a 1/4 mile strip. Lots of fields, lots of trees, plenty of stands. In the country.

West Salem, Ohio.

What about National Trail in Columbus?

Anything big enough in Kentucky?
