Competition U-joint upgrades, when are they needed?

Competition Indy Dyno Day

Jeff Garmon of Garmon's Diesel is giving away $500 this year to the Top HP truck on DIESEL ONLY. Rules are simple, must be running only diesel fuel with no power adders or water injection.

This year I am trying something different. Instead of just signing up on the list, I will issue you a time slot. After the slots are full, we will have a standby list. You will be asked to be at the dyno with your truck 30 mins before your scheduled run. If you are not checked in 15 mins before your scheduled time, a standby person can take the slot. Time slots will be issued at 4 per hour (9:00, 9:15, 9:30, etc. ) Runs will again be $65 for three pulls.

Last year we were timed at a best of 10 mins a truck and if we get ahead fo schedule, I may also add in a standby person if time permits.

We will be running both Saturday (Fair grounds) and Sunday (track).

How do you all feel about this set-up? I figured this way if you can go off and enjoy other activities of the event until your time approaches.

Sounds great David! I assume you are going to be at TS Performance in April? Look forward to meeting you again, you guys do a great job.

So stock turbos then?

Oh wait, let me guess, a nice set of twin turbos are not power adders. But if the oxygen comes out through a little nozzle it is a power adder?:D

Just curious, what is the most horsepower a dodge has made on a factory stock turbo? The common rails have to be making decent numbers.

We'll be at TS Performance Chris. Was a great event last year and should be even better this year. Only thing is since I will be working I will not be racing. That means Mike and I (1st and second place last year) will not be able to defend. :(

David, lets say a guy like me want to run two different classes, fuel only and unlimited! To show that I have the water off would I need to turn the switch off, or disconnect the power wire, or take the nozzles out of the hat, nozzle removal can be don't easily but not for back to back runs, with and without... thinking out loud, but it makes no difference to me!

Hey Jeff I hope to be going to KY with Andy and Scott, maybe Ted.

Fill the truck up let's GO! No problem, Hey Gene I put the

the truck on the same diet as Anna Nicole is on it will be

4000 lbs leaner for Muncie!! Mark

AH-HA! I knew you were lurking!!

Actually, if you want work, I'm sure you will have it the way the pulls are set up. A qualifying round then the finals. I'm sure there will be some trucks that need patched up.

David,

I think this will be excellent, as the pulls are on a schedule for the different classes. So guys who want to pull and dyno, can sign up for both and not have to worry about missing one or the other.

Jim if is is like last year, I'll be so busy we'll have to rely on the honor system. I am not going to ask folks take trucks apart and remove stuff. Since I'll be running the trucks, I won't be activating any switches other than possibly a lockup switch. So, hopefully we will have honest folks and keep it fair for everyone. :D

I can't wait to see the numbers this year though. Last year we saw 608 on #2 only, and we all know many folks have found new HP in the last 12 months... I can't wait. Actually, my current #2 record is held by Rick Wallace at 710hp. Think it will fall? ;)

Thanks David that's what I'd to do also, if you were running the trucks then I think it would be fine with everyone plus it's easy to tell when it comes on... . 50 hp gain and an LED light by the boost gauge, but it takes only 5 seconds to deactivate it from under the hood.

I doubt my schedule will allow me go to Muncie and that's a good thing cause your #2 record would fall;) should have some new numbers before long.

All the more reason for you to make it over Jim. :D I hope that my record gets smashed at Muncie. :--)

David TD - I won't be running my mostly stock truck, but I am going to try to make it there as a spectator mostly.

I know the next 2 questions are dumb, but I gotta ask. You said
... must be running only diesel fuel with no power adders or water injection.

I realize that trucks making 6 to 7 hundred h. p. are not stock, but you said "no power adders. " Which I was thinking was like boxes and injectors and stuff. I know I don't understand it, could you explain it to me?

And, what happened to the Garmon Dakota (R. I. P. )? I hadn't heard.

Thanks.

When I say power adders I mean Nitrous, Propane, water, or water/meth combo.

In other words, #2 only fuel. Injectors, boxes and all other performance additions are legal. Understand this is for the $500 only. Each person CAN run Nitrous and all the other stuff but just won't be considered for the cash award.

See ya there,
