GDOA and GTDR Gathering for August (St. Louis Area)

May Madness 2004?

Wow is about all i can say, excellent turnout, both by vendors, members and others. I could only stay for the pulls, maybe next year I can do the whole weekend. Awesome!!!!!! p. s. can we get a better annoncer for the pulls in the future, could barely make out what he was saying , and i was sitting 4 rows down from the annoncers box. anyway awesome job people keep it up. thanks again Ian:cool: :D :p :--) Oo. :-laf

Just got home myself. The pulls were great, although I'd have liked to see what many of the trucks that broke could have done. Several driveshafts were thrown into the bed of the truck before it left the track. Maybe even a turbo or two.

It was almost boring watching all the Furds and a few Chevys trying to match the CTD's. One white Chevy crew cab had a good run though, but I don't think he ended up in the top three. Gotta give 'em credit for trying, I guess. Kent Crowder and SledPuller did a great job. :D

One thing is for sure, TIM is the place to go for dieselheads.

Graet time as always, Eric. It was nice to see such a croud there. Sunday's weather could have held off until 8 or 9pm, that would have been nice, and I would not be home yet:D

I would like to know who the guys were on I-70 West bound Sunday afternoon. They have Show Me Smokers decals on the rear windows. They had no CB so I couldn't talk to them! If you guys read this let me know.

That was most-likely 01_HO, 98 Slushbox, Turbo LCC and Roger Rodbolt i think. And several others names and handles that I cant remember.

J. R.

It was great to see all the trucks and put a few faces to all the names I can't remeber. :D

You think the pulls might have to start a little earlier next year?

And is 2 days of perfect weather too much to ask for? :D It's a bummer the rain came early on Sunday.

A big thanks to all who worked to put it together. (and your VERY tollerant law enforcement officers-- Way coolOo. )

What a great time.

Tstetson and I had an excellent time also. Tis the place to be if your a dieselhead. Lots of Smoke:--)

The convoys of smokin trucks runnin through town was great.

Seeing locals in cars swerving and turning on windshield wipers while driving through smoke was hilarious:D :D

Took forever to get home due to all the rain, but it was well worth it.

Don

Thanks J. R. , I have no clue who they were. The only one I no it wasn't was Roger Rodbolt as I know Larry. One of these days I will catch up with them:cool:

Spent four days at the campground with a lot of other TDR members. Most were still sleeping off last nights round of partying when I left. We couldnt race so we went to the Texas Roadhouse for more fun and food. Nice meeting a lot of great people this event and hope to see some of you again at the DHRA drag event in July. Later Kirk

ps: Only two chairs were broke when I left the Roadhouse. Were there any more?

turbo lcc

I have to say my memory is terrible. I need a camera to record colors, etc:D The lead truck with trailer was a Silver Sport with another Silver Sport on the trailer. The one following was probably Black but I can't tell you what color the truck was that was on the trailer he was pulling. All I can say is the truck second in line had a terrible smoking problem every time he got into the throttle a little bit at 70mph. He better check that out as it can't be good for the engine;) :D

What I want to know is who were the "nuts" doing the burnouts in front of the RoadHouse and trying to turn in to park? In the rain no less. Tolerant cops is an under statement.

And a lot of really nice looking trucks. :) And I was the only one with a wind deflector on top. :p . Gotta protect my fiver.

Really a good.

. . Preston. .

Turbo Thom

Who would EVER do a burnout ... or at least try to in the rain ... . esp right in front of the Raodhouse???? Well . . I could think of a few :D :D from NC, MO, CO, IN, OH, KY ... ... . and so on - that JUST might do such a blatant display ...  Oo. Oo.

Nope but we had one heck of a peanut fight later on, should have left about 2 hours earlier..... I was a hurting unit coming home on the 13 hr drive.

TIM

Bummer about the rain on Sunday but folks who got to the track early did get in a few runs. I had a good time. Wish I'd had the energy to clean up Baby Jaine for the Show and Shine, but getting a trophy from two suicide blondes is not my idea of a reward...

Jean

Hey, it was nice to meet you ladyjaine

How about the kid that showed up at the Lee's Inn with the zebra striped truck and again later to do burn outs with a no suspension station wagon?

That turbo rotor spooling itself on out through the tailpipe was one of the most memorable moments... I'll never forget that sound.

And our convoy of 14 trucks heading East was just a beautiful thing!

I agree, and the poor guy carrying the rotor back to the truck like a hot potato... .

I had a blast... . and I tried to make sure everyone around me did too.

Here are some quotes:

Shanti: "Bill, is it okay if Matt sleeps on the floor?"

Bill: "Do we have a choice?!"

Me: "Yeah - I'll have a pitcher of Bud Light, please... "

(cute) Bartender @ Roadhouse: "Sure, how many cups do you need?"

Me: "None. "

Did anyone know that I'm trying out to be the 'jackman' for a NASCAR race team? :-laf

Trucker: "WHOA!! What just blew-up??!!"

FireChick: "Oh, that was our buddy Matt - his CB doesn't work, so he uses smoke to communicate to us. "

I'll think of more sometime... .

Matt
