Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Ticking between 1300 & 1600 rpm

In medium traffic, pushing the pedal down slightly to keep up with the flow of traffic. Between 1300 and 1600 rpm I get a

ticking sound. I noticed it years ago and have asked a few mechanics about it, but I have never been able to get an answer. It has slowly increased in loudness and it's bugging me again. I have 169,000 on the odometer. The tick is a good

sharp tick and if I get on it I don't hear it. But when slowly increasing my speed along at around 1300 rpm I begin to hear it, at 1500 it is very noticeable. If I take my foot off the gas while it's ticking, it stops.

Fuel return tick. Take a stethascope to the metal fuelreturn line and have someone hold rpms to 1500. thats my guess.

I agree sound to me like an overflow valve noise.

1300-1600 tick......

Is this something that I should take care of right away or can I take care of it next time I have to take my truck in for something else. I would rather group the maintenance together so I can do it all in one trip. I have to rent a car and between that and the work being done, maintenance gets pretty expensive.

Hell, I spent over $4,000 in maintenance and repairs last year... .
