TIE ROD END

Can you buy the drivers side tie rod end just by itself?What we need is just the seal(I call it a grease boot). My son was greasing the right side and the bottom of the boot blew out. All he needs is the boot to replace but I guess you have to buy the end of the tie rod to get the boot. Any suggestions or is this part available?

I make ball joint boots all the time out of puncture proof bicycle inner tubes and stainless steel tie wire, works great and lasts long. But I'm doing this on tractor ball joints that cost $150+ each and who's only problem is the boot. As far as I know boots aren't available separately. You do have to remove the joint to put on the homemade boot, the price of a Dodge joint end might be cheap enough that it isn't worth the hassle for you, they are available, I think even from Napa.

I know polyurathane boots are available seperately for jeep tie rods. You may be able to find some at a four whel drive shop.

Well I'm getting closer to finding one. Called Dodge dealer-you have to buy the whole thing
Federal Mogul-seal comes on tie rod as a complete assy.
NAPA-no luck AUTOZONE-they have 3 sizes there will have to take it off and see if one matches. Thanks for the help.

Check at a 4wd/off road shop. Companies such as Swayaway/Rancho make urethane/colored replacement dust boots for tie rod ends.

You could visit any front end shop. I am sure they would let you have one off of an old part.

Well I found them. Had email to look at energy supension web site. They have them and it looks like about any type for any car/truck you have. 4Wheel Parts sells them. They are out of the one I need should be in next week. They are sold in pairs for $4
