Tilt-bed method of sending unit repair

I've read numerous posts about tilting the bed from the front by leaving the two rearmost bolts through the frame and bed. Has anyone tried tilting the bed to the side? I believe that the left side wiring would need to be disconnected, but wouldn't that offer the easiest access? What am I missing? Is there a clearance problem?

I tilted mine to the side. Seemed a whole lot easier than dropping the tank. Just make sure you block it well before you're in there. (visions of a giant mousetrap)



I hadn't heard (or thought) of tilting up the front. I've since seen the side tilt method at the dealership.

PS: Get the top of the tank clean and understand the fuel line connections before you tear in to 'em.
