I bought a used 2001 2500 in August and as money allows and now the weather I have been doing work and upgrades on the truck. One thing I was wondering if a tilt steering column can be put into a none tilt column truck. I want to keep the steering wheel i have know. There is a company that can get the steering column and rebuild it for me. They have a mobile units that can do rebuilds in the truck I think they might be able to take the old no-tilt out and put the rebuilt tilt column in that way I dont have to do it. But I want to make sure it can be done. And if it can be it wont be until around April or May when I will get it done.

My truck is the bare bones model no power windows, locks, and cruise control in it. It has a auto trans and is 4 wheel drive.

This is the first Dodge Truck and Diesel Engine I have owned.

Thanks for any help in advance.

it most definitely could. I had tilt on my 95, and went to non tilt cause thats what the donor truck had in it. I did a auto to manual conversion BTW. needed to loose the shifter on the column. lot of wires (36iirc) to splice when u swap out column's tho!

When i woorked in dealers I did several dakota conversions to tilt but never any rams. All it took for a dakota tilt conversion was a knob and the plastic cover. You had to paint the plastic. The whole job took 30 min. to complete.

Hope this helps

Doug
