I had a heck of a time finding the right ones for my '04. 5 2500 SWD longbed.
If you have the right ones, they are at least 1. 5 - 2 inches above the axel housing and can't possibly make the truck ride rough as they aren't touching anything and the truck rides along on the stock springs.
If the timbrens are touching the axel housing with the truck empty, they are the wrong ones.

what he said.
My first Timbrens pushed down fairly hard onto the axle, I did not mind the ride at all but the boss complained. It was a short time after that, that Timbren came out with a different bracket for the 3rd gens (they sent those for free). So that now they sit about 1" off the axle with a truck box that is loaded with all kinds of B. S. With a load of gravel or loaded trailer I ride level and have a nice ride. When empty, I have a nice ride also.
I have never had the problem of the Timbrens just barely touching or just barely off the axle. Until 2 days ago, I towed the empty utility trailer (3,000 pounds), and the Timbrens sat about 1/8" off the axle it was a fairly bumpy ride.
This is the first time in two years, that this has happened.
towing 9,000 pounds very often I sure like my Timbrens, and would buy them again.
