Last night I was on my way home from Bismark and I hit a deer again, and now Im in the market for a new front bumper.

I want a bumper that is sturdy unlike the wimpy factory bumper, but I also want it to look nice.

What are my options for a tuff but reasonably priced bumper?

Sorry about your luck. One option is the Buckstop bummper, they are much heavier then the stocker and I think look better.

I have a Denver Off Road Front. It's all 6061T6 aluminum and only weighs 135 lbs. No front end suspension mods and no front end sag. It's very solid, a good fit, looks deadly and high quality craftsmanship.

The UTE bullbar is a good looking deal too. It is also an all aluminum bumper.

My $0. 02

I'll 2nd that on the Denver Offroad Bumper.

The fitment was perfect, unlike of lot of aftermarket stuff I've seen. Not only that, Layne Wright is a really nice guy & a pleasure to work with. We added the valance that fills up the space under the bumper & prevents rocks, small cars & anything else you might run over from gettin' up into the engine compartment. It doesn't detract from your approach angle either & looks really good as well. It is made from the same stuff as the bumper except it is 3/8" thick & is nearly as stout as the bumper. Usually he puts 5-2" holes in it for airflow, but he added a couple more at our request. I mounted 2 PIAA 510 fog lights on it & ran the wiring thru those extra holes.

My father picked up the bumper for me in Fruita & saved me shipping & when we decided to add the valance, I met Lane (when he was on one of his material runs to Denver) on the northside of the metro area & saved more on the shippin' as well.

y-knot that is 1 awesome looking truck you have.

Does Denver Offroad have a website so I can compare it to Buckstop?

From what I can see they are both great looking bumpers but price will be a concern too,I should have about $1200 to work with when the insurace check arrives.

Silver Star Mfg. is near me. I have a couple friends with his products on their rigs and they're really stout. He also does about all the options, just tell him what you want. If the steel prices haven't driven his prices up your check will cover it too ;)

I will third the Denver Off Road bumper. And Ditto what Ranger said. He really does have outstanding craftsmanship. I also just added the lower valance friday night. Nice addition for it. Layne from DOR does not have a website but

http://www.dodgeram.org/bill_s/front_bumper.htm are some pictures of it. There are also some here in the readers rig section I think member MACTRUCK has some photos of his in there.

Best thing is give him a call 970-858-4010

I had an unfortunate mishap with a deer myself. It is amazing how flimsy the stock bumper is. If it wasn't for the Smittybilt bumper guard that I had installed, there would have been some real damage. I went with the Buckstop for future protection.

I just bought Layne's last 2nd gen. bumper last weekend. He took it off his truck and put it on mine. He is busy working on the 3rd gen bumpers. He said he will make more 2nd gen's soon. I also like the valence and will buy one when he makes some more of those as well. I wish I had only hit a deer instead of a car!!!

I just bought a UTE bumper from Layne, it should arrive in about 7-9 days. It is lightweight and I love the look of the polished al.

Ive got the arb bumper and i like the look of it and its held up to plenty of abuse, plus they have a 50mph impact with a deer with no damage guaranteed to boot. go to http://www.4wheelparts.com for a price i got mine locally so im sure i got over charged.

Bought a new looking used reunel for my 96. I got it for like 750 bucks. What an awsome bumper, why doesnt anyone run then? New price runs close to 3k, that must be the reason

I agree with you, EBottema, awesome is the word. I have a Reunel on my '97, which came with the truck when I bought it last year.

I too am running the Reunel and love it!Oo. A little on the expensive side for a brand new one, but definately worth the money rather than putting it into body work reapir from destroying a deer. Good thing about Reunel is they custom make your bumper to what you want. I guess you could order an already to go bumper from them, but when I ordered mine they had to make it, but that is what I wanted.

Here is my deer killer. :D

You got a website?

The website is:

http://www.herd.net.au

I picked it up locally (out here Billings is local, neh? ) at a shop called TNT in Billings. They carry aliarc and herd bullbars. That way I saved the freight.

Can't say it's the best looking bumper, or best fit when you consider how well the buckstops are sculpted to fit the headlights. But I wanted the lighter weight of an aluminum on the Cummins front end. It should be beefy enough to deflect incoming ungulates, excepting bison and cattle, of course. Besides, they seem to want too much for the other aluminum ones for my pocket book.
