Time for a muffler

well i got my 05 in dec of 04 and it only took about a month before i straight piped it. Well i have enjoyed it and love it and still love the sound but i do think its time that i put a muffler as it is very loud and people are getting annoyed with it and i would like to go camping or something and have that option to go jump in turn it on and get warm with the cold season hitting. Anyway i question to all on here is what muffler would you recommend. Now i just want something that sounds good and i don't want it to be all too quiet. I mean straight pipe is loud so even the loudest muffler probably wouldn't be that loud. But i was thinking that maybe mbrp magnaflow or banks would be one of the ones that i am interested in. Anyway what do you guys think or recommend i get. I'm just changing out the muffler on a stock exhaust system. No dual exhaust set ups or anything like that. What do you guys think?

My vote for mbrp.



I just put one on my truck, and now that it has a layer of soot in it, I can't tell the difference in it unless I nail the pedal.

i was gonna go for the mbrp. i had a magnaflow on my 12v and loved the way it sounded. after thinking about it i decided to talk to the shop 3 blocks from home. i got a magnaflow installed for like $215. nice and welded and i didnt have to mess with it. heard it from the outside for the first time today and its got a nice low rumble to it in the lower rpms. not sure WOT. i left the cat. seemed loud over stock but after about 2 days i coulnt tell the difference unless im working the motor hard.

I vote for MBRP. They sound great if your cruising or hammering.

You'll love the MBRP or the AFE mufflers that are specifically designed for the 2004. 5+ trucks. They take into account the low in and high out stock muffler design and bolt on really easy. The sound is deep and mellow except when you nail it. Ask the membership, they have gotten literally hundreds of them from us!

man, they're not that loud unless there's a load on them... just putting through a parking lot, the exhaust isn't any louder than the engine rattle on a 2nd gen 24v! if you're worried about other peoples ears, I would quit worrying... if you're worried about yours, I'd add some sound deadener and enjoy your truck

Mark i was cruiseing your site and was wandering which model to get what is the difference between stainless steel and aluminized? Is it just an appearance look or what? And which one would be a little louder the 309 or the 409? Or should i go ahead and go with the afe muffler? Any help would be great.



Don't get me wrong guys i love my straight pipe but i have been told by family and others that it may be time for a muffler

The design and sound is identical, just the material is different for the MBRP or AFE muffler set up. Most folks get the 409 stainless as it's the same material as the stock pipes so it matches up etc. You'll like either one, not much difference between them at all.
