I have almost 250k on the truck and of course the truck always pulls to the right, so I figure its time to replace the front end parts. I just tested the ball joints and I could not see any movement. There is no outside tire wear or cupping in the slightest. I even used an 8' pry bar. Nada movement. So I figure to replace the tie rod ends with lukes links. Sway bar bushings, steering stabilizer and there was another fix for the front end of our trucks that was a large bar that was installed that fixed or helped the steering box? I did a search but I'll be hanged if I can find it. Its around 225. 00 but I cannot remember who makes it. The U joints on the drive lines were done about 2 years ago and are still good. Is there anything that any one else can think of I should replace. For me, now is a good time because I have the money to do it.

Thank you,

WD

Search for the DSS steering stabilizer. Couple different places to purchase it. Also, with that many miles I would look at a 3 turn steering box and a 3rd gen track bar upgrade if you haven't done that already. When I did my steering box swap I also did the vacuum pump and power steering pump overhaul. Added a magnifine filter to the low press line to the ps pump. All's good for awhile.

The third gen track bar will fit on a second gen truck? Didn't know that. If I get that track bar will it fit into the mounts that hold on the present track bar?

Yes I see that. I just took your suggestion and looked up the DSS Stabilizer and track bar. Think that I'm going to get them. Now also need to get a 3rd gen bar.

Maybe you wanna take a look at the Thuren track bar too. A lot of guys really like them, and you don't need to buy a conversion bracket. If your truck is always pulling to the right, maybe you wanna take a look at your control arm bushings too. If I'm correct, I think any changes in caster will make a truck pull one way or the other. My truck is the same way, no abnormal tire wear, but it has pulled to the right ever since I got it aligned. But, if I get it out on the turnpike where theres hardly any road crown, it drives straight as an arrow. I think they just didn't compensate for road crown when they aligned it.

In my case the DSS, 3rd gen track bar, PSC high flow pump, and the PSC steering gear made my '97 drive better than ever. Its at least as good as the '04. There's very little play in the wheel now.
