Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Time For a New Truck Need Input

Well new to me

I totalled mine sunday

i'm wanting another 24valve only because the quad cab or id be all over a 12er so a few ?'s

quad cab (4 dr) 12 valves?? 1998 maybe?

what year were the 53 blocks common?

02 the only year of rear discs?

do all the years have the jacked up 4x4 steering linkage?

what are you folks paying to make an auto hold up to 500-600hp the DTT stuff i hear about(never had an auto) parts and machining only?

basicly is there a better year.

Sorry to hear about the loss of a Ram. I hope you didn't get hurt in the wreck. I have a 2001 made in November of 2000. Mine has discs on all corners. I need to fix the front end soon. I don't have a 53 block, but heard that '01's have a few.

Didn't the 24v come out in 98. 5? if so I am guessing VERY few quadcabs with that motor. I can't answer all the questions but I am guessing this will be a good building point. -Jason

98 Quad Cab 12V, they are out there, and in the classifieds right here.

I believe that 01's have rear disc brakes as well.

cool sounds like 01's had discs

and 98 12 valves are QC

but after thinking i'll prob stick with a 24valve kinda the adjustable power deal(towing, smoking out the cabs of noisy rice burners ect. )

i think i made out better than my truck

i only have a few broken ribs and cuts

truck well its toast probably be buildable with a new frame and all body parts except the pass door i'll see if i can get a pic on

Only the 01. 5's had disc's from the factory... I had an early '01 and put EGR 1ton wheel cylinders and brake pads, plus slotted rotors,calipers and pads up front... That thing would stop on a dime with light pedal pressure... I can't wait for the brakes to wear out on my '05, it Will get similar treatment with EGR goodies

98. 5 first 24 valves. almost a full year of them out there as 99's didnt hit dealers until sept of 99. 2001 are first year for rear discs.
