Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Time for a SBC

I finally had the time to get the 370's and DV's in today. What a difference! Only noticed the clutch slipping in 5th so far.

Getting a little more smoke, but it's not bad. EGT's are up about 100 more degrees.



I figured that the clutch would be next.

Except for the extra wheels in the back, your truck sounds pretty similar to mine. You will love the SBC.



I'm curious, is your timing still at the stock setting or have you bumped it up. I got the 370s, but no DVs yet. I haven't installed them yet because I want to advance the timing to help control the EGTs. I'm a little worried about too much smoke as well. Did your mileage suffer?

I was going to do the timing at the same time. Got a late start so I figured another day. I like to do these things in steps so I can evaluate each mod (DV's and the 370's seemed like a natural combo). Too soon to tell about MPG, just ran it up over Spooner Summit.

Running the plate and AFC full forward, will fine tune once I get the timing done.
