I'm tired of driving around blindly. I need some recomendations as to what guages to purchase. I really like the pillar mounted units and like the looks of the Auto Meter Phantom guages. Are they good quality? Also, where should I buy them from? I figure this is my first step before the bombing begins. :D Thanks guys.

I got the westech 's from GENO's and put them on the a-piller tripple mount ,they are great , got it all except the paint from Genos , got paint from dodge

Guages; smart decision. I've got the ISSPRO enhanced visibality. Night time lighting very good. Some have said the Autometer has a tendency to fog up or get moisture behind the glass. Start with a pyro, boost, and transmission temp. Don't know if you tow or hot rod. Transmission guage nice to have but certainly needed if you tow. A pillar is nice. Not really a blind spot if you're closer to the wheel. Us taller guys (and gals) who slide the seat back tend to get a little obstruction from the top guage.

There's a great article in issue 34 pg 20 of the TDR on guages and lighting. Highly encouraged reading if you haven't already.

Diesel Injection Service has been good to me. They'll do you as well. Brian is the guy. www.dieselpage.com

Research, select, purchase, and install. Have fun with it! BF

Purchasing gauges

I used Autometer Z series gauges, they look very close to factory. Mounted on the A-Pillar, many people comment about the 'new optional factory gauges' in my truck.

Give Doug and Andy at www.smokindiesel.com a call 724-335-6167. They are great guys, and they even painted the Pillar mount to match my interior color for me, so I could start to install them right after the UPS truck dropped them off.

Enjoy your new gauges! Greg L

Lsfarm, did you install your gauges or did you

have someone do it for you? I work in Flint and

have been looking for a place to install gauges

and my DD 2's after I get the trans done. Who

installed your trans stuff? I put the EZ-Box in

but thats about my limit. Thanks for any info.

I second this opinion of Andy and Doug! Great guys to talk to and will bend over backwards to help you out. I'm a newby at this diesel thing and Andy had lots of great advice and suggestions for me. I ordered the Isspro EV Marine guages (EGT,Boost,Trans Temp) White face, convex lenses and blue backlighted for night viewing. Also ordered the 94'-95' trans cooler line to facilitate the install of the Trans Temp probe.

Cannot wait for them to get here:D

Need Help?

Hey Curt,

There's talk of a WI bombing party after the first of the year, if you want some help. I'll keep you posted.

Dave

I have the SPA combo boost/EGT guage on the pillar. IMO it is the best thing going. I never have to look for a problem situation, the idiot light lets me know :D Get whatever you like and put them in.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the help guys. Fireman Dave, a bombing party sounds great. My checkbook is ready to go. Now I just need to decide what to purchase. Hopefully the bombing party will help me make those decisions. ;)

Hey Dave

I'm also ready for that bombing party. I've finally made the decision about the gauges for the truck. This time I hope I can make the party. Inventory, and a banquet in Oshkosh are the only commitments. Let me know when to bring the wrenches.

To the Mod Squad

Sounds like a plan guys. We'll get something together. One word of warning, though. If I pick the date, we'll have an ice storm or tornado or something. I'll try to stay out of selecting the date, but I'll email all you guys once the host suggests some dates.
